Bill GrantGlobal warming gained unprecedented attention in 2007. We’re now more aware than ever about the need to take action and the possible consequences if we do not. But besides all the talk about climate change, how much did we actually accomplish in 2007, and will we do any better in 2008?

We’ll discuss these and other questions in a daily podcast starting today and concluding on New Year’s Day. Each program will feature a local expert and focus on a different major source of greenhouse gas emissions. They are electricity generation (today), transportation (Friday), building construction (Monday) and residential energy use (Tuesday).

Today’s topic is electricity generation, the largest source of carbon emissions according to the U.S. Greenhouse Gas Inventory. Our guest Bill Grant, Midwest Director of the Izaak Walton League, says the state made impressive strides in 2007, but 2008 will be important for turning goals into policy.
