Critical Climate Podcasts: Global Warming & Transportation with Barb Thoman
Friday, December 28, 2007 at 7:00 am
As the year comes to a close, Minnesota Monitor is looking back at what was a big year for discussion of global warming. We heard more about climate change in 2007 than any other year, but what actions did we take to tackle the problem? And what can we expect to see happen in 2008?
We’re asking those questions in a series of daily podcasts, which started Thursday and will conclude on New Year’s Day. Each program focuses on a different major source of greenhouse gas emissions. Thursday’s topic was electricity generation. Monday’s will be building construction, and Tuesday we’ll talk about residential energy use.
Today we talk about transportation with Barb Thoman, program director at Transit for Livable Communities, a St. Paul based advocacy group. She expects lots of discussion about transportation at the Legislature in 2008, but says people don’t have to wait for that debate to change their own habits.
