A noisy month ahead at bridge site

Now’s the time to buy earplugs if you live or work near the north end of the I-35W bridge construction site.
Workers will start drilling foundation shafts there sometime in the middle of next week. The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the drilling will create “noticeable noise” because of the site’s elevation and three large air compressors that will be used to power the equipment.
A total of 69 shafts need to be drilled for an abutment and the Second Street Bridge. The drilling will be done between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is expected to continue for three or four weeks.
For more information on the project, visit www.mndot.gov or call the I-35W Bridge Hotline at 612-236-6901.
