Bachmann says she did take earmarks after all
Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 3:46 pm
Just days after saying she had requested zero earmarks for her district, Rep. Michele Bachmann admitted to Fox News’ Brian Wilson that she had indeed requested millions in earmarks in 2008. But, she says, it’s not a big deal because her earmarks were less than the average earmarks for the rest of Minnesota’s congressional delegation.
BACHMANN: Well, the average earmark I think for the state of Minnesota for the members of Congress is somewhere around 70,000– $70 million, so mine is very, very small on that level and that’s in the first two years that was in. After I saw the way that the process worked, after being a freshman, I saw how corrupt it was and took an earmark pledge and that’s why I personally have no earmarks in the current budget bill and the stimulus bill that was passed this year.
Bachmann secured $3,767,600 for her district in 2008.
As Think Progress has pointed out, the average earmark for Minnesota’s delegation is $2.1 million and the average total for earmarks is $33 million. Bachmann’s assertion that it is somewhere near $70 million is an exaggeration.

Michele lies again. She loves God, and follows him. God says don’t lie. But Michele lies anyway. Does God have a different set of rules for Michele? Is she allowed to lie?

Shame on the people of her district for voting this dolt back into office. Minnesota is the state that elected Jesse Ventura as their governor. They are the state that elected Keith Ellison a congressman at a time when anti muslim hatred was in style. Heck, they just elected a comedian as their junior senator! How can the same people elect a scumbag like Bachmann? Perplexing.

What an embarrassment to our state. Glad I’m not in her district, but if I was I’d be working night and day to get her out of office ASAP. What an idiotic person.

I see, it’s “I voted for it before I voted against it”.
Hypocrite.
Would she still like to see an Un-American Activities Commission?

C’mon Minnesota, you’re smarter than this! For the love of all things holy, next time this woman’s time is up, vote her out. She’s no Mary Richards.

If I were a republican I would be embarrassed to have her call herself a republican.

So let me get this straight. Michele Bachmann brings home 3.7mil in earmarks where the rest of the MN delegation brings home around $70mil………..sounds like my district is getting screwed. ‘Earmarks’ are part of our federal taxes that we pay in and SHOULD get back for local projects. The no earmark pledge only hurts our district and is crap.

Every time this woman opens her mouth I cringe. Who on earth could have voted her into office? She is a nut case and the only reason why she gets air time is because no one can believe how stupid she is.

Michele Bachmann seems to have trouble with the truth.
She is so transparent-clearly a media seeker and Christian pretender. Why would anyone take her seriously?? From accusing our President of being anti-American (McCarthyism anyone??) to her exagerations and her attempt at hip hop (you be da man-Michael Steele)-she is an embarrassment to the people of Minnesota.
Comment posted March 17, 2009 @ 6:52 pm
As a Christian I am continually amazed that anyone believes this woman has any relationship with God. She wouldn’t recognize Jesus if He walked in her office with a red cowboy hat on. She is probably the biggest liar in congress and has no relationship with any God from any bible I’ve ever read. I will not dare get on the subject of her massive incompetence-she is as dumb as a bag of rocks. Who voted for this idjit! I’m almost ashamed to admit she’s an American citizen

Ding Dong, Romper Room is in session. This dolt should not even be interviewed anymore on TV. She does not know fact from fiction if you slapped her upside her head with it. She is a disgrace to all americans. And those twilight zone eyes, it is all to eery for me.

Bachmann is an AGENT OF SATAN and a TRAITOR TO AMERICA. Everything that comes out of her mouth is a lie and a tacit admission of Satanism. Just look at her eyes – you can see the power that Satan has over her.

TJ,
So let the roads and schools rot, let bridges fall down, don’t help the first responders, and let all the burden fall on the working poor and middle class. Yep, if I were a republican I would think she is just fine.

I was a Republican until the likes of Bush, Cheney, and Bachman caused me to leave. They wouldn ‘t know the truth if it bit them.

Everytime I read about this woman she is either lieing about something or backpeddling from something she has been caught lieing about. What a fine example of a Minneota citizen she is. Has she ever had a mental examination?

She has done what the Repukes, typically do. Deny deny deny, and when you’re confronted with the facts, get caught with your panties around your ankles, you admit to the lie, and come up with an excuse. John McCain and Sen. Dick Shelby (R-AL) and a lot of the Republican Congress and Senators just did the exact same thing today. With AIG, in the beginning of February, President Obama wanted, early on, to limit CEO compensation and eliminate bonuses from any company receiving TARP/Federal Assistance. The Republicans then (LESS SIX WEEKS AGO), called The President a socialist and chastised him BIG time about him even suggesting anything of the sort. He was right then, he’s right now, he was right to run for President and he’s right about this reinvestment act. The Repukes are falling fast folks. I can’t wait for them to fall on their own sword, and choke on their own vomit!!!

Who actually is surprised by this? This “tin-foil” headed woman should have NEVER been elected to ANY office. Just another Republican hyocritical liar… all filled with Jesus, but will tell lies larger than the biggest sinner. What a frickin’ joke Michelle the “tin-foil” headed Bachmann is. NO ONE SHOULD BE SURPRISED. This coming from a person who STILL doesn’t understand that in this day and age of technology, when you tell HYPOCRITICAL LIES, they will be found out.

Ms. Bachmann is unbelievable in her hypocracy and dissembling. Does she feel guilty for any of this in God’s eyes? Nah, I don’t think so. There’s always Judgement Day to look forward to. She better start worrying….soon or change her tune.

On the other hand, her interrogator from Fox didn’t pursue her claim for no earmarks this year. If that’s true. then given the number of earmarks for her colleagues in THIS year, I’d have to admit that that’s pretty damn good. But on the 3rd hand, some earmarks are appropriate, they do good things, necessary things.
Anyway, as much as I think Michele is a dwebe, prove me wrong on this one.

How do her contitutents tolerate such outright lying??
If you say you don’t take earmarks, how can you morph that into talking about “average” earmarks??
Republicans are truth challenged.

Matt, Maybe not as surprising as it might seem. As a representative, Bachmann appeals to her notoriously conservative district. Most of the rest of us just point and laugh. My hope is that we’re somehow containing all the people who think like Bachmann in some sort of right-wingnut zone so we can keep a watchful eye on them.

Forget the political party stuff. I can’t understand what in the hell she is doing in Minnesota.
I’ve drawn a red line around her district, and as a life-long Minnesotan I will never drive through, near or in the direction of her district again.
The people who elected her are scary and not the people of Minnesota I’ve known for sixty years!

Well, if you are a member of the Minnesota IR (“Irritated Repiglican”) party and you are still pissed off about the results of the November election, you can always take out your frustrations by hassling Sara Jane Olson when she returns to the state to serve her parole. After all, Repubs love to live in the past, so there’s nothing quite so satisfying as hassling a 62 year old woman who has served her time, for something that happened three and a half decades ago. Or you can introduce some bullshit legislation against gay marriage and in favor of God, apple pie and the sun coming up in the morning, if that makes you feel better. Or as a last resort, you could go and pull the wings off some flies maybe.

OK, let me get this straight–first she lies and says no earmarks. Then, when she gets caught lying, it’s no big deal because she’s not as greedy as the others from her own state. The thing that really proves what an idiot she is–she lies even as she tries to defend herself! How many times does she have to embarrass herself and her constituents before they figure out that she needs to GO??

Comment posted March 18, 2009 @ 10:57 am
Much as I hate to say it she was born in my hometown of Waterloo, Iowa. She get’s elected with less than 50% of the vote because of third party candidates who helped her in two election cycles. That also explains the closeness of the Senate race.
Comment posted March 18, 2009 @ 1:57 pm
I live in this sad district. I have never voted for Bachmann, but the reason she gets elected and reelected is that the district has been gerrymandered to include every possible religious conservative and anti-abortion fanatic in a region that is flush with them. Bachmann’s only effective platform is that she opposes abortion. Until the DFL wises up and runs their own anti-abortion candidate against her, she will survive.

P.S. Of course, redrawing the districts back to some semblance of normal boundaries would be the best solution by far!

I am from the district that she “represents”. I am pure breed DFLer that just happens to have been born and raised in St. CLoud. You ask why she got elected? St Cloud is a very unfriendly place for unions, along with a very pro life demographic, not to mention, 3/4 or better of her district is made up of farmers. Funny part is that republican rising star Tim Pawlenty is talked about running for president in 2012, he wont even win his next govenor election. If he did run for president, he wouldnt win the state. People are getting sick of Pawlenty “running” this state. You can laugh and point fingers at our track record of people we elected into offices, but you forgot who is “running” the state of California!

Beside being a liar and hypocrite which is minor to her latest of her statement
Bachmann told WWTC 1280 AM, “I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us ‘having a revolution every now and then is a good thing,’ and the people — we the people — are going to have to fight back hard if we’re not going to lose our country. And I think this has the potential of changing the dynamic of freedom forever in the United States.”

Repugnant can’ts, demo craps, conservative, liberal, right wing, left wing; all labels to distract us while they vote with the corrupt leadership of both parties so their corrupt corporate interests can pick our pockets. Pay attention to the senators and representatives that the two parties want you to ignore if you want the truth.
From what I know and where I’m coming from, I simply no longer believe the controlling fairy tales, lies and deception of religion, corporations, politics or government.
