Climate-change impact hearings hit the road

State Rep. Bill Hilty, DFL-Finlayson, is hosting a series of public meetings around the state Thursday and Friday to talk about the impact energy and climate change issues might have on local governments.
The tour begins Thursday afternoon with a 1 p.m. legislative hearing in St. Paul featuring presentations from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, the Oregon Department of Energy, and the Post Carbon Institute, a nonprofit California-based think tank.The University of Minnesota-Duluth and the Lake Superior Energy Associations will host a second meeting 7 p.m. Thursday at 90 Bohannon Hall, 1207 Ordean Court in Duluth.
On Friday, Rochester Community and Technical College will host a program at 3 p.m. at the Heinz Center Commons, 1926 College Road E.
And Twin Cities residents are invited to attend a meeting Friday evening at 7 p.m. at Pershing Recreation Center, 3523 W. 48th St., in southwest Minneapolis. That meeting will be co-hosted with State Rep. Frank Hornstein, DFL-Minneapolis.
