Limbaugh amused by Red River ‘dykes’
Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 9:12 pm
Rush Limbaugh, popular conservative radio host and Republican Party icon, thought he found a bit of humor in the record Red River flooding devastating parts of Minnesota and North Dakota: The word for the berms holding the river back is also a derogatory homophone for lesbians. He asks the “dykes” in North Dakota to call into the program.
“I heard some top-of-the-hour news, and it made me feel uncomfortable. It’s about the flooding in Fargo, North Dakota, brought on by the melting snowpack and the icepack. [Reading from news item]: ‘As the Red River threatens to overflow, they’re filling in the dikes.’ Isn’t there a more appropriate word? Do we have to say, I mean, we don’t have any dikes here. The ‘dykes’ are over there. … They’re filling in the dikes. Couldn’t we change that to ‘they’re filling in the contingencies’ or something? … We really need to change that word. … Hey, would you dykes in North Dakota give me a call and let me know how the flooding is going?”

I guess the best thing to do is to call attention to yet another Limbaugh firebomb but it’s getting tougher and tougher to gin up any angst over anything that idiot says. We all know he does it to kick up a few turds to somehow keep himself relevant to the day’s conversation. Limbaugh shoots himself in the dick on a regular basis and just proves to those not under his spell that he’s just another insensitive prick.

Oh, that Rush! What a silly fellow! The things that he says are real knee- slappers, aren’t they?

Rush:
I’m very disappointed on you being so insensitive to other peoples desperate hours…
How could you Rush…
I used to like reading your e-letters and your writings… not any more…

Agreed EK. Yet here it is April 17th. Doesn’t The Minnesota Independent review comments for abuse? I find the blatantly racist comment from Lyn to be abusive. It should be removed.

JC,
You’re correct; Lyn’s comment is in violation of our comment policy and has been deleted. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
