Graffiti taggers in South Minneapolis have apparently lost faith in the American dream. These dueling slogans were spotted today on a house on the 3100 block of Clinton Avenue.

There’s a pink one, and a green one, and a blue one and a yellow one, and they’re all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same…

Interestingly, this is on the same block that Cheri Honkala and Rosemary Williams decided to take over a house when Rosemary got foreclosed on (because she pawned her house). What are the odds that this was done by a random tagger? Very Little. What are the odds that this was done by a silly Marxist wannabe who was two or three doors down at Rosemary’s and decided to get all ideological on us? Pretty good.
These are not taggers as the caption claims. These are folks from the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign who are squatting the other house on the block and are too lazy to go further afield to propagandize.
This is just one of the reasons that people who care about Minneapolis’ neighborhoods should shun the foreclosure squat meme. For a good explanation on why the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign’s idea of “taking over” foreclosed houses is plain stupid, read Johnny Northside’s commentary.
