Mark Kennedy Cancels Speech

Republican Congressman Mark Kennedy has cancelled his speech at the Humphrey Institute’s candidate forum tomorrow.  Kennedy (R-MN) had been slated to give an address entitled “Bringing Real Change to Washington.”The U of M press release cites a “last-minute scheduling conflict” as the reason for the cancelation.  Though Kennedy’s website is currently silent on the reason the speech was cancelled, it may have something to do with tomorrow’s visit by President Bush.

It is interesting, to say the least, that Kennedy–who has been trying to avoid being tied too closely to the president–appears willing to cancel on U of M students to rush to George W. Bush’s side.  And it will be very interesting to see where Kennedy surfaces tomorrow.
