Al Franken really did win the election for U.S. Senate in Minnesota last November. That’s the decision of the three judges who heard former Sen. Norm Coleman’s lawsuit challenging Franken’s recount victory.
“Franken is entitled to receive the certificate of election,” states the order signed by Judges Denise Reilly, Elizabeth Hayden and Kurt Marben, who comprised the special three-judge panel that heard the election contest that Coleman brought. (Coleman says he’ll appeal their decision to the state Supreme Court.)
Here’s the pdf of the court order; here’s a quote from it:
The overwhelming weight of the evidence indicates that the November 4, 2008 election was conducted fairly, impartially, and accurately. … After seven weeks of trial, the factual record is devoid of any allegations of fraud, tampering, or security breaches on Election Day, during the recount process, or during the election contest.
Update: Franken: ‘I will be certified’

Way to go Minnesota, you folks really elected a boozo this time! See Al Franken get nothing done for your state. You deserve what you get with electing this dope. You’ll get nothing.

I love that the first person to slam the election of Al Franken signs his post “bambam” Only in America are fools so proud to draw attention to themselves.

Despite ‘bambam’s’ belief that nothing will get done for our state, imagine what hasn’t been done for the past 6 months! Minnesota really just needs another Senator now, more than ever! Personally, I think Franken will do a fine job of representing our state. Simply because one has a good sense of political humor doesn’t mean they are dim-witted and incapable of politics. Sure, politics is serious business, but obviously Franken acknowledges that and will put the past behind him and do his best as a Minnesota Senator. In addition, we can take solace in the fact that he’ll do a better job than Coleman has!

I go with the judges’ view:

Ok, sign the certificate Ritchie. Time to put T-Paw on the spot.
The “Hoover of MN” should have his nose rubbed in the certificate ink.

Al Franken is a comedian, a man who views the world with skepticism, who is articulate, witty, and who questions the normal.
Coleman has distinguished himself during his term in the Senate as being a lapdog and a yes-man to the dumbest, laziest, and possibly the most regressive president we’ve ever had. We and Minnesota are lucky to have Al Franken.

We’ll see… Anyone remember Jesse? I still want an explanation of how a voting precinct can have more ballots cast than actual registered voters…

Rick – Your wish is granted. Read the ruling. Starting with paragraph 105, the judges explain how this can happen. “Discrepancies between the number of votes and the number of persons whose names appear on the election-day roster as having voted are not unusual.”

that’s right blueJ. One of the things they point out is that the evidence in Pamela Howell’s precinct identified that the election judges forgot to record 18 absentee ballot voters on the register.

I think Rick’s question is not about a -discrepancy- but how more people can be counted as having voted than have the right to vote… That’s a fair question.

EmMan, read Glynis
And about humor–a sense of humor can open up the dialogue and, often is very helpful in situations where egos are clashing.
I hope he does well. I KNOW he’s very intelligent and well read in U.S. and world affairs. And I love that he does fact checking.

This whole election was really pathetic. Both the Republicrat and Democan candidates were pathetic. Obviously Franken is even worse than Coleman. He will help Juan Peron Obama turn this nation into a socialist/fascist quagmire of slavery for the next 400 years. Voters should always vote for the candidate who favors lower taxes, less government, and more individual freedom. Neither candidate here would do that. So the real crime is that the “third” candidate got so little exposure and chance to show that he might. And some people deny that the Establishment Media are biased!!!! In Canada, denying that the “Holocaust” occured is a crime. I think that denying that the Establishment Media are biased is an even bigger crime.
