Somebody named “Johnson” or “Smith” needs to run against her. Some Minnesotan sounding name.

I think the reason she won last time is that most people just couldn’t bring themselves to vote for someone named “Tinklenberg”, even though he was the superior candidate.

Its time for a non-retarded Republican to take on the challenge in the primary. Given the economic climate and the real, (albeit self-inflicted), suffering in the 6th, the DFL will be well placed to crush Bachmann.

If I could advise the local GOP, I’d recommend running someone who is not a walking advertisement against the tin-foil-hat, rapturo-fascist crowd.

I agree Eric that the DFL needs to get someone out there NOW to oppose Bachmann and everything she is saying. Just because it’s a “traditionally” conservative district shouldn’t mean anything. She has weaknesses (many) and can be defeated.

I would bet money (literally, in the form of a campaign contribution) her opponent would raise plenty too if there was an opponent already. Maybe that will encourage some DFLer in her district to attempt a campaign. I’m reasonably confident her vulnerability and the DFL’s motivation will get a decent candidate to step forward come endorsement time.
