Religious right groups in Minnesota and across the country are enraged by a recent report by the Department of Homeland Security that they feel targets them as right-wing extremists and terrorists. The report was commissioned by the Bush administration but not finished until President Obama took office.
The Minnesota Family Council asked on its blog last week, “Are you pro-life, veteran, gun owner, anti-tax, pro-marriage? If so, you are fertile ground for becoming a right wing extremist and even terrorist.”
Televangelist Pat Robertson speculated that gays and lesbians were behind the report. On the 700 Club, he said, “It shows somebody down in the bowels of that organization is either a convinced left winger or somebody whose sexual orientation is somewhat in question. But it’s that kind of thing, somebody who doesn’t think that we should have abortion on demand, is labeled a terrorist! It’s outrageous!”
The American Center for Law and Justice, a conservative legal think tank, sent this message to supporters: “The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has labeled you, a member of the pro-life community, THE MOST DANGEROUS DOMESTIC TERRORIST.”
Janice Crouse of Concerned Women for America, said that the report was a direct attack on what Jesus stood for. “[It's] a direct assault on the basic principles of religious beliefs that have been here since the time of Christ,” she told OneNewsNow, a Christian news service. “These are the things that Christ died on the cross for.”
Jan Markell, of Maple Grove, Minnesota-based Olive Tree Ministries, said that conservative Christians are now terrorists:
Are you a student of Bible prophecy who has discovered that the Bible teaches the planet will soon be under the control of the one-world government of the Antichrist before Jesus comes and institutes His one-world government? Do you believe the Bible teaches murdering our children is wrong and homosexuality destroys lives and that we should speak out against them? Do you feel the increasing immorality is fueling increasing crime, and wish to defend your children with a firearm? Do you love America and want to see it obey its own Constitution limiting federal power and enforcing its own immigration laws? Are you a military veteran who has bled for the freedom of your country?
If you can answer “yes” to just one of these, then you are now considered by America’s own Department of Homeland Security, to be a “domestic rightwing terrorist.”
As for Christians who believe in God’s moral law and students of Bible prophecy, being seen as terrorists is a chilling thought. Christians only have to look at other large democracies like India to see that democracy doesn’t protect its Christian citizens when the government would rather not have them around.
When did such a transition take place in the United States, that our “apple pie” Americans who love God and country such as myself would be seen as the enemy? The answer coincides when the values of the Bible were ejected from our society. A free and truly democratic society that values life and liberty cannot survive without those who hold to God’s moral law. True freedom requires Jesus Christ, the Bible, and a foundation that rests firmly on what God calls right and wrong.

Light up the Waco style Texas Bar-B-Q.
This is just the squeal of the actual caught torturers and criminals that will be hiding under
the cross and bible when they are dragged to justice.

Any responsible movement acknowledges the lunatic fringes and does their best to disavow their actions. That they leap to defend the nuts and extremists among their ranks as upholding their highest principles speaks very poorly of them as anyone I want involved in a national discourse, much less influencing policy.

IF you want to hold up the Bible as your moral highground then we should bring back slavory and kill Atheists and stone Homosexuals and discrimanate…

any group that wants to control others or put others down for their beliefs are terrorists. they claim they believe in freedom but only for the certain chosen few. these groups are nothing more than hate groups.

Those that defend life are not hate groups. It’s funny how those that want “free speech” only want it for their own views. Fine then. I expect to see the “CODE PINK” demonstrators labeled as Terrorists as well:

Some of those who claim to “defend life” have blown up women’s clinics or have murdered doctors. Some of the self-proclaimed “life” advocates are virulently in favor of the death penalty. DHS has no choice to keep an eye on such groups, as they unfortunately put themselves in the spotlight by failing to keep terroristic behavior among their followers under control.

EK:
Just wait until you fall under this “labelling of terrorists.” Oh wait, you probably already do. Where does it stop? You are into Government “control,” eh? That’s great, it’s called Socialism, Communism, etc… Maybe you should move to China. Or better yet Korea, where they keep EVERYONE under strict goverment control.

Conservatives are not victims of assault by homeland security. Christians are not victims of assault by homeland security. It is a good thing that our government try to prevent attackes by the McVeighs, the DC snipers (both US military veterans), the anti-abortionist bombers of medical clinics. Conservatives and Christians are victims of homeland security just like the Wall Street Tycoons are victims of Obama’s socialist intervention into markets …. NOT!

What!? Didn’t Homeland Security already round up the terrorists in the raids before the Republican National Convention? I thought they were all locked up?
Why are they now targeting the good “apple pie” Americans, the folks who wave Old Glory and the Bible? We are just like North Korea, I guess. This is a sad state of affairs.

Just another fund raising opportunity for these jerk-offs. Send out the letters about “banning Christmas” and “attack on believers” and the dough-ray-mee comes rolling in the door.
Get out your checkbooks, true believers, and send in your money. Donations are down because of the economy, and your charlatans have to make the payments on the mansion and the private jets.

Amen. It’s all about the money with these creeps. They couldn’t care less about fetuses or gay marriage except that these issues stir up hatred and keep the money rolling in. Too bad they can’t catch Pat Robertson for tax evasion and lock him up for a while.

Have you ever noticed how much hate and name calling that comes from the left? Theses people must have miserable lives! Anyone they do not like or agree with they discredit. There is freedom for all, as long as you belive as do the left. I would challenge you to study Germany as Hitler was rising to power.

Tim is right. these right wing, con artists, have the people of fear in the palm of their hands and they just keep squeezing them and squeezing them for more money. it never ends, well as long as there is someone to frighten. and as they squeeze they spew hate and fear into the national consciousness.

The author, Andy Birkey, has a spur in his saddle regarding “the religious right”. Numerous articles have been written by this person using this label instead of dealing with the issues and concerns. Poor Journalism is his practice. Do you really know who the religious right is and what they stand for? You may have more in common with them than you think.

I wonder what people think now, given the recent murder of a physician by a religiously motivated anti-abortion doctor killer.
