Republicans snarf up snarky anti-Dem domain names

Kitty Bennett of the NYT blog The Caucus reports that RNC officials have been buying up Democrat-related domain names–straight ones, like “ClintonKerry.com,” and critical ones, like “Barackisnotready.com”–during the past year in a bid to spawn web mischief come the fall.

“The Democratic Party and the campaigns have shown little of the verve and creativity of the RNC,” notes Bennett. “The Obama campaign registered desperatehillaryattacks.com in December. The Clinton campaign registered votingpresent.com two days later, an apparent reference to Mr. Obama’s votes as a member of the Illinois legislature.”

The GOP, meanwhile, “has also begun preemptively registering domains that could be used to attack John McCain, like mccainamigos.com, voteagainstmccain.com, flipflopmccain.com and hatemccain.com (ihatemccain.com was taken.)”

Mercifully, JohnMcCainisadangerousnut.com remains available.
