Note : This is an ad hoc policy group … not a legislative committee.

Why is Bachmann issuing a press release now ? Boehner announced on March 30 (yep, almost a month ago), that Mike Pence (R-IN) was named to head this group along with Reps. John Shimkus (R-IL) and Fred Upton (R-MI) as cochairmen. Other members include Joe Barton (Tex.), ranking minority member of the Energy and Commerce Committee; Doc Hastings (Wash.), ranking minority member of the Natural Resources Committee; Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Rep. Rob Bishop (R-UT), Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI), Rep. Shelly Moore Capito (R-WV), Rep. Mike Conaway (R-TX), Rep. John Fleming (R-LA), Rep. Ralph Hall (R-TX), Rep. Doc Hastings (R-WA), Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Rep. Kenny Marchant (R-TX), Rep. Mike McCaul (R-TX), Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX), Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI), Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ), Rep. John Sullivan (R-OK), Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE), Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-PA), Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-OH) and Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR).

If this is the speed that she is finding out her Republican Party assignments, this explains why after being in session for four months that the GOP still does not have an Energy plan to put forth.

If the Republicans really wanted Bachmann to be “armed and dangerous” they would have empanelled her on the Energy and Commerce Committee since that is where the legislation is being developed.

You have me confused. You claim that Bachmann was corrected for claiming that household energy costs would rise $3000 per year, and then you link, without any sign of criticism or snark, to a Weekly Standard article claiming that the costs could be $3800 per household. What are we readers supposed to think?

More evidence (as if we needed any more...) that the repubs have completely lost whatever shreds of credibility may have remained following the Cheeny-Bush years. Ms. Armed-and-Dangerous seems to not be troubled by actual facts and will no doubt rise to greatness in a party that would rather foist off fantastic nonsense than grapple with actual issues. The dems have much to gain by Bachmann assuming an even greater role alongside Rush in speaking for their party. Rave on!

Is it that Republicans have a suicide pact or is it that they are just blind lemmings? I mean putting an ignorant spotlight hound with a record of not having a clue about complex energy issues to the House GOP American Energy Solutions Group just reeks of the stupid. That would be as stupid as spitting in the face of voters in Minnesota by dragging out a Senate contest months past its' sell by date. Ohhh wait, never mind.
