Bachmann ‘not blaming’ flu pandemic on Obama — just saying it’s a Democrat thing

President Obama is not to blame for the flu pandemic, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann told Pajamas TV today:

I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under Democrat [sic] President Jimmy Carter. And I’m not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it is an interesting coincidence.

As ThinkProgress notes, the 1970s swine flu outbreak happened on the watch of President Gerald Ford, a Republican, not Carter.

I find it interesting that the last office to which the vice-presidential-appointee Ford was actually elected was Member of Congress — the same job Bachmann holds today.

(cough)

Just sayin’.

Wonder when Ron Carey is going to call her out on this garbage? Oh, right, he’s too busy reaching for his smelling salts over Keith Ellison’s getting arrested in a principled action drawing attention to the Sudanese government’s kicking the aid groups out of Darfur.

Actually, it’s because when Republicans are in office, they make sure our black ops are biologically engineering things similar to Swine Flu. Remember when you combined Bovine and Visna Viruses in the 70′s and created AIDs? They wait until Dems are in office to unleash them on the heathen public and usually kill groups they hate like Blacks, Gays, and maybe even Mexicans.

The woman is batshit crazy!

She is an embarrassment to the office and to the people of the 6th district.

Bring on the mid-terms! I can’t wait to see the ads that the democrats unleash. If they blow this one, all hope is lost!

Bachmann is beyond belief. A total idiot that, hopefully, will be thrown out with the swine (flu)

The republicans aren’t even trying to distance themselves from her. They just named her to the House GOP American Energy Solutions Group. It’s not leadership, but it’s a bit of prominence. If they’re going to treat her like the party mainstream, let’s pin Bachmann to any Republican who won’t repudiate her.

What are the odds of Tarryl Clark running for the DFL nomination for the 6th District? I know she’s been rumored to be in the 2010 Governor mix, but I doubt she’s got a shot at winning a statewide race right now.

Patty Jo,
Paul Demko looked at possible challengers for Bachmann’s seat, including Clark, two weeks ago. Read it here.

Oh my word! I put this person on the same plain as Ron Carey – very narrow minded, up-tight, ideological zealots that practice the same type of separatisim that our forefathers left England to escape. It is embarassing to see both of these persons extremist comments in the media. It is my opinion, that the republican party is dying a painful death due to comments and antiquated attitudes such as these two and our governor seems to be cut of the same cloth, only more subtle in his discrimination.

Michelle Bachman is full-out, bat sh*t crazy. A total psycho. Please, if you live in her district, come to your senses at the voting booth. In the meantime, thanks for the laughs, Michelle. Whacko.

The first confirmed swine flu case is in Batshit Crazy Michelle’s district. Nice going, Republicans! I’m sure there’s a cause and effect relationship there.

I’m not amused, I’m afraid. Calling out Michele Bachmann needs to advance from the comment sections on lefty blogs into the mainstream media. This woman has gone beyond “very conservative” to a post-ideological form of weirdness that is no longer funny or quirky, it’s dangerous.

She is allowed to get away with what she says because of a misplaced belief in the power of manners. Rep. Bachmann’s lies and rantings are outside the rules of etiquette. When are other elected officials going to drop the pretense of Minnesota Nice? When are they going to confront her with her spewings and stand up for the truth? Until they do, we can expect more of the same.

Question : Was it Carter’s successful handling of the swine flu immunization program that attracted Bachmann to campaign for candidate Carter ?
President Carter’s involvement was to review what went wrong with Ford’s decision-making process.
