I'll never understand the ACORN as boogie-man thing. Basically what they do is register poor people to vote. Anyone who's taken a stats class knows that poor people voting is a threat to conservatives, but ACORN itself isn't all that influential. The thing that conspiracy theorists such as Rick above can seem to grasp is that voter registration isn't the same as voting. If an actual case of voter fraud ever comes up, that might make a difference, but "voter registration" fraud is a completely pointless crime.

Republicans have lost in the last 2 election cycles and by the look of it they are headed for a 3rd. They are against taxes, unions, big government , gays , liberals , etc. etc... What are they for? Rich people and big Business ? Does that sound like a winning combo for todays electorate?

It doesn't matter that ACORN " didn’t really come close to stealing the race for Obama." What matters is sects of this group committed voter registration fraud in more than just two states. It's comical how people say that ACORN is being "targeted." Their lack of oversite on what their satellites are up to has put the target squarely where it belongs, right on their back.
Special note to Mill: Apparently you've never examined both parties very well. Quite obvious I'm a Conservative. What YOU like to try to describe as a Republican may work with a few, but is not inclusive to the majority (even a slim majority) of the party. If you want to see hate, just look at the differences between the DNC and RNC conventions last year. I don't recall any Democrat delegates being attacked, having bodily waste thrown at them, the degree of riot control present. Keep drinking the kool-aid millster...

I guess this explains why Republicans bizarrely started going after community organizers during their convention. It never worked with the general public, but they kept saying it so it must have worked with the base. Or maybe they were that oblivious to the fact it wasn't working. It might have even backfired among urban voters.

This section bears repeating: "Republican officials now admit that the group didn’t really come close to stealing the race for Obama. On Election Day, recalled Nevada Republican Party Chairwoman Sue Lowden, the GOP watched the issue closely, alerted state officials to bogus registrations, and dispatched “trained people” to the polls to look for voters showing up to cast ballots under assumed names at fake addresses. None showed up."

It's amazing how many different groups of concerned citizens Republicans want everybody to hate and trash. Democrats, ACORN, moderate Republicans, anti-torture advocates, gays, liberals, media othe than Fox News, anybody with a concern for fair treatment, fair opportunity for others it seems.

Whacked out repubs are casting about for issues that have traction and it doesn't matter if there is any truth to their accusations. Business as usual for the noise machine.
