A new billboard at a busy St. Paul intersection takes aim at Gov. Tim Pawlenty. Paid for by a coalition of liberal advocacy groups and labor unions, the sign seeks to highlight Pawlenty’s potentially key role in the ongoing U.S. Senate contest. If the Minnesota Supreme Court rejects Norm Coleman’s appeal and certifies Al Franken the winner — as is widely expected — then the Republican Governor will have to decide whether to sign an election certificate.
Pawlenty has given mixed signals as to whether he’ll sign such a document if Coleman continues his legal fight in federal courts. The Republican leadership in Washington will undoubtedly pressure the governor to withhold his signature.
“What will Pawlenty choose?” reads the billboard, at the intersection of I-94 and Snelling Avenue. “People of Minnesota? Or his national ambitions?”
The coalition, which includes Alliance for a Better Minnesota and AFSCME Council 5, has also created a web site, SeatOurSenator.com, to build pressure to seat Franken.

This is also a very fiscally responsible ad because it does double duty in that the same exact question could be asked of Pawlenty’s budget decision.1 billboard, two equally valid applications.

The beauty of this billboard is that it is applicable to virtually every law or decision that comes across King Timmy’s desk. He’s a puppet for the GOP. Sadly, no one has bothered to tell Timmy that his political capital with the GOP is quickly shrinking and he’s no longer one of their “golden boys.” He’ll allow MN to go unrepresented in Congress, he’ll step on the sick and dying who would benefit from the medical marijuana legislation, and continue to spout “no tax” rhetoric while our deficits grow, spending grows, and fees for virtually everything go up. All while portraying himself as this “folksy” down-home Minnesotan and “righteous” man of God. Please, Timmy. Do yourself a favor and listen to the people you were elected to represent.

After getting told not to run for Senator by Dick Cheney and stiffed by McCain as VP, it would be funny if Timmy gave the Republican leadership an “f-u” by signing the certificate. I’m not expecting it, but it would be nice.

I hope they can afford to put a few more of those up. It’s going to be a search to find a billboard not owned by Clear Channel though. Clear Channel billboards display conservative messages only.

Amazing, feeble Franken with his wimpy win is destroying the two biggest republicans in the state. The puffy-faced Republican Party won’t want either of these two servile toads after they finish with them, nor will Minnesota. This makes Mickey B the top seed Minnesota Republican by default. Bye-bye spineless doughboys, Mickey B will reign supreme.

Why doesn’t Timmy like the people of Minnesota?

It’s a pointless question. Of COURSE he’ll choose his national ambitions. He’s already sold his soul to the devil…er, Republican party, too late to back out now! I’ll enjoy seeing him go down in flames.

Huh. “Feeble” Franken is defeating all of his well-funded, deepy entrenched and highly connected opponents with facts, logic and the law.
What does that make his opposition?

Pawlenty is a vicious, vindictive bully with a smile on his face and a switchblade in his hand. I can’t think of a fate bad enough for him considering what he’s done to this state.

Moronic – the election was / is one way or the other +/- 200 votes.
They should do a run off – drop the other candidates – & if Al really has the votes, let him win 1:1 – rather than this arm twisting, legal wrangling.
I mean AFSCME? Puhlease! Why not just call out the Teamsters and threaten Pawlenty directly?
