Capitalism and socialism are not mutually exclusive folks. Using both of them in tandem is basically what Europe has been doing for the last 60 years. Are the Dutch, English, Swedes, etc commies? No way.

Also, these idiots at the RNC got the name of the party wrong. It should be there is a Democratic party, not a "Democrat Party". I suppose they could have messed it up on purpose, but that would just be childish. Of course this whole story is childish anyway.

A couple of years ago I was staying with some retired friends in vegas. The couple only watched Fox news. One day the older Gentleman who was living on social security told me "America has become to socialistic. Hopefully Bush will help change that.". I pointed out that social security was arguably a "socialist program". He remarked Well not that one, that ones good. I then pointed out that medicare and medicaid was a "socialist program". He said those programs were good to. A few months later Bush was reelected and I remember how he got pissed at the republican party for attacking social security. This man had a picture of Himself standing next to George W Bush at a fundraiser when I was there. He said he threw away the picture.
I think the republicans might not understand that really only 2 percent of Americans are true capitalists. They can easily buy and sell the rest of us. Attacking Children and education worked for the republicans. Parents, Teachers and children are not politicaly active together. When they took on Social Security they took on retired people and they are politicaly active and savvy. The rebranding would only help Democrats. Because like my retired friends canidate said "fool me once shame on you. fool me twice and aaah ahh you cant fool me another time heh heh."

Something else funny. 97% haven't heard a good word about socialism --- whatever is meant by it --- in their entire lives, nor a bad word about capitalism. Maybe all but the conservative base are willing to look at real life and ask whether they need to rethink things.
