Reached by email Thursday afternoon, former City Pages music editor Sarah Askari confirmed that she was axed from the position. Referring to the Pioneer Press writer who broke the story of her exit, she wrote, “Ross [Raihala] didn’t write out plainly that I was fired, but I was.” As for future plans, she added only, “I’m not anywhere but on the couch yet.”

Two sources close to the situation confirm that Askari was ousted and say that apparently she learned of her pink slip not from editor Kevin Hoffman, but second-hand. Askari, the story goes, confronted Hoffman after hearing that he was  interviewing others for her job. When asked for details on Askari’s  sudden departure, Hoffman emailed me, “I can only say that we wish her well in her future endeavors.”  Askari was cut loose on March 26; on Thursday, Andrea Myers (Reveille, How Was the Show) was named as her replacement.
