As long as we tolerate fractional reserve banking and the Federal Reserve system we will get wonderful bursting bubbles. The Federal Reserve was given their power so that they could prevent this from happening. I don't think anybody but a banker could say it's been a success. Call your reps and demand that we audit the Fed. HR 1207 would do this. 5 of 8 Minnesota congressman support this bill. If/when we see all the fraud it should make everybody aware that our money is worthless and we need a new system. These are the Minnesota congressman who are supporting the bill:
Rep Bachmann, Michele [MN-6]
Rep Kline, John [MN-2]
Rep Paulsen, Erik [MN-3]
Rep Peterson, Collin C. [MN-7]
Rep Walz, Timothy J. [MN-1]

If you don't see your rep here you need to call them ASAP. If you're recently unemployed call every day and demand the people behind the bubble are held accountable in the future. Don't take no for an answer. It's your duty as a citizen to monitor through your reps what the Federal Reserve is doing.

Freedom Lover- be careful about saving all that cash, because that hundo you leave in the bank won't have nearly the same purchasing power when you retire. Gold- people have always loved it, it holds it's value, no matter how much the dollar inflates you just get more cash when you finally sell your gold, even if the US dollar collapses you'll be able to get bucks from another country for gold and still be buying things while everyone around you is starving because their paper is worth nothing but as kindling for fires.

This is something that gets swept under the rug. It's laughable that I turn on the news this morning and read headlines that say that the economy is on the uptick again. WHAT???!
I guess I'm just "biased" though given my hours were reduced and now have no benefits and am one of the people this article addresses. I was financially prudent. I was a good, reliable employee. I saved. Now, health care and the basics will eat up my severely reduced paychecks.

Another large group not mentioned at all in this analysis includes people who work on contract - a large and growing group. When these people aren't working they don't show up on any list. Often when the economy goes south, big companies start by getting rid of all the contractors.
