Possible Ventura Senate run worries MN GOP
Wednesday, April 09, 2008 at 1:29 pm
The Republican Party of Minnesota expressed its concerns to its supporters today about a possible Senate run by former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura. The e-mail, sent by Minnesota GOP party chair Ron Carey, captions a picture of Ventura in a pink blazer, sporting a yellow feather boa and holding a WWF microphone with the words “the Honorable Senator from Minnesota?” Carey says, “It is patriotic and responsible Minnesotans like you … who will keep Ventura and the leftist Democrat candidate Al Franken out of the United States Senate.”
Mary Lahammer of TPT’s Almanac blog spotted the e-mail, and commented, “The conventional wisdom was always that Jesse hurt Dems more than Republicans, but in a race that is likely to be close, I guess neither side wants a wildcard.”
The full e-mail after the jump.

Dear Supporters,
Just when you thought the 2008 campaign couldn’t get more unpredictable, Former Governor and professional wrestler Jesse Ventura says that he has not ruled out running for senate – and we need your help to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Ventura alluded to a possible run while promoting his latest book, and spreading his radical view that the government is covering up the real cause of the collapse of the World Trade Center in 2001 and that the CIA is conspiring to keep him out of power.
It is patriotic and responsible Minnesotans like you, not the CIA, who will keep Ventura and the leftist Democrat candidate Al Franken out of the United States Senate. Please make a contribution to the Minnesota Republican Party today, to ensure that we have the necessary resources to keep our senate seat safe.
Minnesota cannot afford to relive the mistakes of the Ventura administration. The Former Governor’s legacy includes major tax increase proposals and major embarrassments. Results which blatantly contradicted campaign promises to lower taxes and decrease the size of governemnt. Please make your donation today to make sure that true fiscal conservatives represent Minnesota in Washington.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Ron Carey
Chairman
Minnesota Republican Party
P.S. Please make your most generous donation today to help us defend our senate seat from radicals like Al Franken and Jesse Ventura. Thank you!

Worried??? I think that’s wishful thinking on your part. Try reading the email, it’s more party begging, using the rediculous notion that Ventura is a serious candidate.
I think it’s you that’s worried about Jesse running, not the GOP.

Hmm… I have no feelings about a Ventura run either way. He’s wacky, but in a lot of his politics I agree…just as I do with Franken and occasionally with Coleman. What? Me worry? No.

Vote for “Anyone but Norm” is a vote for Jack Shepard to eliminate Sen. Jack is back for a rematch with Sen. Norm Coleman in the
Sept. 9, 2008 Minnesota Republican Primary for the U.S.
Senate.
Rightly so Jack Shepard’s Campaign is titled “Anyone but
Norm” so vote for Jack Shepard in the Minnesota Republican
Primary for the United States Senate on September 9, 2008!
Al Franken’s the Democratic Candidate for the U.S. Senates
main reason for also running against Norm Coleman is his
wish to eliminate Norm Coleman from the U.S. Senate. If
elected as Senator Al Franken; he has promised to work to
end the Iraqi war and bring our troops home!
The ” Anyone but Norm” campaign that Jack Shepard is
running against Norm Coleman in the Republican Primary on
September 9, 2008 is going to be one of the most important
and watched Senate races in the nation!
Can almost unelectable Jack Shepard eliminate Norm
Coleman and win the Republican Primary in September 9, 2008
for the U. S. Senate to win the right to run against Al Franken
and maybe also liberal Former Governor and professional
wrestler Jesse Ventura in the November General election for
the United States Senate in the State of Minnesota?
Just when you thought the 2008 campaign couldn’t get more
unpredictable Jack Shepard says in his, “Anyone but Norm”
campaign vote for me in the Republican Primary against Norm
Coleman on September 9, 2008 is the only way working
together we can “Dump Norm” easily.
I know that every member of the Minnesota Democratic Party
and most independents voters in Minnesota who support Al
Franken for the U.S. Senate would rather have Al Franken run
against Jack Shepard then Senator Norm Coleman and former
Governor Jesse Ventura in the Minnesota General Election in
November.
Because Al Franken the Democratic Candidate for the U.S.
Senate and I, Dr. Jack Shepard the Republican Candidate
running against the incumbent U. S. Senator Norm Coleman in
the Republican Primary for the U.S. Senate on September 9,
2008 share many similar views on so many issues.
Especially because it looks most likely liberal Former
Governor Jesse Ventura will also be run for the U.S. Senate.
If Former Governor Jesse Ventura runs for the U.S. Senate he
will split the liberal vote and if Senator Norm Coleman beats
Jack Shepard in the Republican Primary then Senator Norm
Coleman will get lucky again and will easily get re-elected to
another 6 years as Minnesota’s Senior United States Senator.
Now you see how important it is for Jack Shepard’s; “Anyone
but Norm” campaign to be successful!
Jack Shepard must beat Norm Coleman in the Republican Primaryto “Dump Norm”to eliminate Norm Coleman in his own Primary is the only way to stop Senator Norm Colemanand affect the outcome of The Minnesota Senate race in 2008!
