Ellison gets shout-out in Obama’s Cairo speech

President Obama’s much ballyhooed speech in Cairo today included a mention of Rep. Keith Ellison — albeit not by name. Here’s the pertinent passage:
And when the first Muslim American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our Constitution using the same Holy Koran that one of our Founding Fathers — Thomas Jefferson — kept in his personal library.
Of course some cretins — yes, we’re thinking of you, Dennis Prager! — took this as a threat to traditional American values.

What our President failed to mention was that Thomas Jefferson had the Koran in his personal library, having read for one purpose, to combat the Barbary Pirates. He needed to know what he was up against in this enemy.
It’s that he treasured the Koran.
