Two people were shot at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC, on Wednesday afternoon. The suspect, identified by media reports as James Von Brunn, appears to have been involved with white supremacist groups.
Von Brunn allegedly stormed the entrance of the museum wielding a “long gun,” which prompted museum security guards to open fire. Von Brunn and a security guard were reportedly injured and taken to an area hospital.
Early reports suggest that von Brunn was involved with the white supremacy group Stormfront and was a contributor to the right-wing forum FreeRepublic.com.
Update: Security guard Stephen Tyrone Johns, a 38-year-old who worked at the Holocaust Museum for six years, has died at George Washington University Hospital. The museum will be closed tomorrow in his honor.

Von Brunn, like all Nazis and anti-Semites is not welcome on FR. He is not a contributor any more than Obama is.
That one of his pieces was cross posted from a Norwegian Site proves only that some Birthers are idiots and don’t do any actual research before posting. (Note the irony.)
But to link Nazis, antisemites and “zelous anti-Zionists” to FreeRepublic is a joke. They are all banned within a few hours. This is more than I can say for Huffington Post, MyBarackObama, Democratic Underground, The Progressive and many more.
People post the writings of many authors including leftists, liberals, moderates… on FreeRepublic. I can find many pieces by EJ Dionne. Is his work also Free Republic writing? Is Dionne a “featured writer”?

Yeah. It’s simple. The far right does bad things. Then they blame them on liberals. Like, exploding deficits, ruining our foreign policy, harming people.

It is hard to believe, but also fortunate, the right has highjacked the repulican party. I know there is a stong reason, for at least a two party system, but these morons are incredibly stupid. Not to mention, short sighted!!! Jeff

The way I see it there is no right or left. Who is to blame? No one can really say. It happened!
I wish that people would stop blaming each other and start working together.
We were not all made different or by a different person. We are all equal!
If we start working together things like this may not happen.
To the familey of the security guard. I am truly sorry for your loss.
