ACORN hits Bachmann back with petition of its own
Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 8:36 am
Days after Rep. Michele Bachmann launched a petition against the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, ACORN is shooting back with a petition of its own.
“When you pick on ACORN, you pick on ME!” the petition says. “Congresswoman Michele Bachmann would rather pick on ACORN than stop the foreclosure crisis — even though Bachmann’s district has the highest rate of foreclosures in Minnesota.”
In April, the Minnesota Independent found that Bachmann’s 6th Congressional District had Minnesota’s highest rate of foreclosures as a percentage of households, at 1.80 percent.
Last week, Bachmann introduced a bill that would forbid the Department of Housing and Urban Development from giving money to nonprofits under indictment — and she was very specific in mentioning ACORN as the target of her legislation. She also launched a petition urging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to support her bill.
“Bachmann is on the attack — and is trying to de-fund the very work ACORN does that is keeping so many families from losing their homes,” says the ACORN petition.
Unlike the Bachmann petition, the list of signers and their comments are not open to the public, and it does not say to whom the names will be given.

Michele Bachmann is not only an embarrassment to the state of Minnesota, she’s an embarrassment to the country. She persists in pushing an ultra-rightwing agenda that has failed and continues to be rejected on local and national levels. She does this to the detriment of her constituents in the 6th district, ignoring the real problems they are struggling with. Still she is content to pursue her witchhunts filled with misinformation and half-truths; fiddling while Rome burns.

Acorn is an organization of thugs, tens of millions of tax dollars have gone to this organization. They have hundreds of organizations going through one location. They have many members of their own organization that have came forward asking where all the money has gone, One of their founders embezeled a million dollars. They are supposed to be a non-partisan group, their get out the vote was a JOKE, how many states indicted them for voter registration fraud? They were clearly getting out the vote for BARRACK OBAMA, which is also against the law because they’re a non-profit, taking money from tax payers.

Dan, you say Bachmann has failed… she’s been elected twice, and probably without any help at all from ACORN – LOL. Lots of us believe in her agendas and are happy to have her speaking for us, so hopefully you realize your opinion of things isn’t the only one out there… Embarrassment to you may not be so to someone else. I know, it’s hard for me to believe everyone doesn’t agree with my views either!!!

Let’s remember, most of the fraud was committed against ACORN. ACORN did a great job of weeding out the joke registrations (like Daffy Duck, etc.)
Most states ACORN branches ended the practice of paying by the signature (which led to the fraud), and went to hourly.

ACORN is an embarassment to our country and should be to Mr. Obama. Our President gives them money and yet I have never heard an apology to the people of the United States for teaching our children that, cheating and stealing is acceptable behavior.
ACORN is nothing more than a modern morph of the old mafia. I was a former volunteer then I realized I was asking (actually intiminadating) people, businesses and government to give me something I hadn’t earned or deserved.

I find it amazing that in all the commentaries about this issue that no one has picked up on the glaring injustice of this act, namely that one only has to be indicted in order to be rejected. What happened to the basic premise of American jurisprudence that one is innocent until proven guilty by a jury of ones peers.
I wonder if the same criteria were applied to members of congress how many of them would be able to retain their seats, or even get elected.

All roads lead to corruption when the Obama administration is involved. ACORN helped him buy the election and will continue to do so in 2012 unless they are stopped NOW! He’s been paying off his contributors for months with the American people’s money.
Michele Bachmann is a patriot for trying to fight what EVERY lawmaker in the land should be fighting for. But they all stand silent.
Palin/Bachmann 2012 have my vote!

ACORN was, at one time, a proud organization of folks who cared about their communities. I know because I once worekd for them in Englewood. We lobbied succesfully against landlords that were really abusive against tenants.. But the ACORN I knew is now controled by unions that don’t give a damn about anyone. They want dues, period. So Ms. Bachman, keep at it and stop the crooks that are killing our system.

Bachmann is an embarrassment. Instead of worrying about pleasing Sean Hannity, she should be out there fighting for Minnesota. Maybe she could try to save an auto dealer or two, like Klobuchar did for Walser. But no, she would rather focus on divisiveness and conspiracy theories.
ACORN? I’m not a fan…

She is just upset at ACORN because she thinks they helped Obama win the election. What a total doofus she is for continuing to hound ACORN while her own district is falling apart. What a moron she is.

Dan and Chris, it’s must be embarrassing for you that when your kids read your comments, they will realize their dad supports cheaters like ACORN who fix election, and in return our Congress is preparing to pay them billions to continue. Considering how many millions of those dollars come from Minnesota, I don’t see how you can claim Michelle Bachman isn’t fighting for you. If Obama is so popular why does he need cheaters to fix elections?
