New survey data released yesterday by SurveyUSA have Barack Obama leading John McCain in a head-to-head race by a 49-43 margin. Hillary Clinton leads McCain by a statistically insignificant 47-46; the margin of error is 4.3 percent.
Regionally:
- Obama leads McCain by the greatest margin in southern Minnesota, where his lead stands at 52-41.
- Clinton is strongest in western Minnesota, where she leads McCain 50-45.
- McCain’s appeal looks strongest in the Twin Cities, where he trails Clinton by 1 point and Obama by 5, and in western Minnesota, where he trails Clinton by 5 but leads Obama by the same margin.
