It was an inadvertent mistake and we quickly moved the stories apart. We’re human and we could have done a better job of ensuring that didn’t happen in the first place. We promise to work harder to prevent things like this in the future. We also believe we have a solid record of offering an appropriate blend of coverage of all communities, including the gay community – and not just at festival time. We strive to provide responsible coverage on critical issues, including same-sex marriage, equity in workers’ benefits and the relationship between LGBT people and religious groups. We’re also very fortunate to have several gay colleagues in positions of influence throughout our newsroom. They help us better report on all kinds of issues as accurately and effectively as we can. The problem is not that gays like to have off in locker rooms and in the bushes, noooo. The problem is that society hasn't become enlightened enough to acknowledge that's a natural part of being gay. It's how they roll; get used to it. Ask your kids; if they attend public school, they've been thoroughly educated and can tell you all about it.
