franken-pow-wowThe highest court in the state hasn’t yet declared a winner in Minnesota’s U.S. Senate race, but the state’s biggest pow wow has. “Ladies and gentlemen, let’s rise and honor our new senator for the state of Minnesota,” intoned the event announcer over drums and singing as Al Franken strode past dancers and across the artificial turf last weekend at Hinckley’s Grand Celebration Pow Wow. Video after the jump.

The voice booming over the P.A. expressed certainty even about one of Franken’s committee assignments:

Come on out and join in. Show him the support of Indian Country . He’ll be serving on the Senate Select Committee on Indian Affairs.

It’s a post Franken has been aiming for since the first months of his campaign, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has been saving a seat for him there this year.

Here’s the video. Franken doesn’t speak, but the music’s great and so are the costumes (well, except for his).
