People just don't get it. The Catholic Church will not change to meet people's whims and desires. The Church has not changed in over 2,000 years on any matters of faith and morals. The issue of abortion is non-negotiable, just as is gay marriage.

I Can't Believe I Live In A Country where torture is even considered an option, much less practiced by the central government.

In beginning was the word and the word was with deception and deception was the word... The saints preserve us from their doublespeak, be it Joan Or Catherine or Thomas. These are still the dark ages of their discontent, here at the beginning of the 21st Century? For what has so essentially, tragically been aborted here is Justice.

maybe it's really about torture Steven Miles has become a national voice bringing medical ethics to the distasteful subject of U.S.-sanctioned torture. The University of St Thomas has had Robert Delahunty teaching constitutional law at their Law School for several years. Delahunty is well known as co-author (with John Yoo) of the "torture memos," which many believe created a legal framework that would allow torture. Steven Miles has often been critical of that discredited legal advise.

Perhaps banning Miles has more to do with torture than it does with birth control or legal abortions. St Thomas has already had a great deal of controversy in banning peace laureate Desmond Tutu, demoting the head of their Social Justice department, prohibiting law school students from receiving credit for volunteer work at Planned Parenthood, and so on.

Perhaps the good archbishop is merely trying to spare St Thomas any further bad publicity from harboring someone considered a torture enabler at their Law School. Who WOULD Jesus torture, after all?
