[...] Minneapolis to host Lutheran debate on gay clergy, same-sex ceremonies Leaders of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will gather in Minneapolis this August for a vote on whether to become more welcoming to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Lutherans. Their decision could pave the way for gay and lesbian pastors, bring same-sex commitment ceremonies to local congregations and impact policy in a state with a large number of Lutheran elected officials.Tags: america, august, bisexual, ceremonies, commitment, congregations, debate, decision, gay, host, lesbian, lutheran, minneapolis, sex Categories: Cameras for Less Comments are closed.
And about Martin Luther....he wouldn't be taken seriously if he did come back! The media would eat him alive! He has WAY too many issues. The ELCA was founded on his beliefs, but we have come so far from that dark tower he hid in. If we cannot move forward with society in a loving AND logical way we are doomed to suffer our fate: the death of religion. If people are not welcome, the money will stop coming. God may stay in our hearts, but the church will disappear. We must look deeper into our own hearts as we study scripture and take Christ seriously in his call for grace and compassion.

I pray that God's will and the will of the people will be heard and carefully considered this August. At the moment I am a bit embarrassed that this is an issue at all...I hope I can be proud of the ELCA once more.

I long ago stopped caring if the Lutherans were ready to accept me and left the church. When they decide if I'm ok, I'll decide if they're ok --- but I'm not holding my breath waiting for them.

Fear tactics will not work. Get over yourself and realize gays simply have an "agenda" because of idiots like yourself, who think we're all out ruin everything society has. We're simply looking to be treated equally, much like women and minorities have struggled (and still do) for. Ten years from now, we'll get what we want, and you'll get over it.

Many ELCA Lutherans who feel they have had no vote in this matter due to the homosexual agenda and take over of their church have voted with their feet and left it. Martin Luther held that marriage can only be between a man and a woman for the purpose of not sinning in fornication and having children. Were he alive today to see what has happened to his church, he would be looking to perform some exorcisms. I am awaiting the financial collapse of the ELCA over this matter. The problem has been the non-openly gay clergy have taken over the top of the church in a very stealth way.

Flan, when it comes to expressing your opinions of religion, please be a little more discreet. Please stop trying to paint every religious individual as a plague on society. It only makes you look like a jack-ass.

And yes, I support gay rights. No, I am not a Lutheran, nor Catholic, nor Jew.

Try building relationships, rather than tearing people down. A little friendship goes a long way.

Oh joy, a bunch of rednecks coming next month to clog 94 even more, thump bibles, and do the same old story all over again when it comes to LGBT people in their church. I thought this was the 21st century, not the dark ages?
