Franken targeted by GOP-aligned advocacy group
Monday, May 12, 2008 at 3:48 pm
The American Future Fund has released a new ad aimed at Al Franken. The spot attacks the senate candidate on illegal immigration and tax issues. “Call Franken, urge him to pay his own taxes before asking you to pay more,” the ad concludes.
The American Future Fund is a 501(c)4 nonprofit group based in Iowa. The group is not required to name its donors and can accept unlimited amounts of money. It can’t explicitly endorse individual candidates, but the group previously released an ad praising Sen. Norm Coleman for his supposed bi-partisan leadership. The group was also recently involved in some polling shenanigans in Louisiana. According to the Rothenberg Political Report, among those associated with the American Future Fund are pollster Jan Van Lohuizen (whose past clients have included President Bush and Mitt Romney), veteran GOP attorney Ben Ginsberg and former Republican Governors Association executive director Ed Tobin.

Huh? You’re complaining about the political activity of a 501(c)4?
That’s rich.
Didn’t you guys just post an Obama Ad by Moveon.org?
A 501(c)3 running a political add by a 501(c)4. Seems fishy.

Franken targeted by GOP-aligned advocacy group This is why I want a comedian for a senator as much as I wanted a wrestler for a governor. Give me something to work with people!

Al Franken?? You’re Jokin’! The same Al Franken who said this,
“The point is that there is tremendous hypocrisy among the Christian right. And I think that Christian voters should start looking at global warming and extreme poverty as a religious issue that speaks to the culture of life.”
And this;
“The next thing I am doing is moving back home to Minnesota and getting involved in politics, … I’m looking at a run for Senate in 2008, but in the meantime I am focused on knitting together the progressive network in the upper Midwest.”
I don’t know about you folks but, I’m moving out if this idiot is elected.
