Video: Why Bush doesn’t golf

The editing device popularized by Jon Stewart’s crew — let’s call it “The Daily Show Montage” — is seeing a spike in use these days. The ingeniously simple juxtaposition of contradictory statements made by politicians is used in two new viral videos making the rounds. Brave New Films has put together a series of John McCain flip-flops that would make John Kerry blush, while Slate takes a more visual approach. It starts with footage of George W. Bush saying he doesn’t golf anymore because he thinks it “sends the wrong signal” to grieving military families to see the commander in chief engaged in leisure activities. The video then rolls out with clips of Bush apparently sending the right signal: biking, brush cutting, dancing, lawn bowling (or is that cricket?) and throwing out first pitches at ball games.
