Oh, the irony: A seller at Etsty.com predicts the future

On Friday, an Etsy.com seller added this handcrafted button (pictured) to her collection of items for sale. It features Mr. Monopoly, or Rich Uncle Pennybags, the easily loathed super-rich fellow who giveth and taketh away in the board game of capitalism. The button made little sense on Friday. Why would a super delegate be associated with Rich Uncle Pennybags? And why was he left scratching his head in defeat?

Then yesterday came word from Huffington Post that Haim Saban, the super-billionaire entertainment mogul and one of Hillary Clinton’s top financial supporters, offered $1 million to the Young Democrats of America if the org’s two uncommitted super delegates were to pledge support for Clinton. Saban, who has donated $13 million to Democratic candidates through PACs and contributions since 1999, denies the claim.

Suddenly, the image of Sir Pennybags in a free fall makes sense. Try, try, try as he might, he just can’t seem to pay everyone off. And in another ironic twist, one of the two then-uncommitted super delegates has now pledged support for Barack Obama. Now we’re just waiting in anticipation for the same seller’s Papa Smurf for Obama button to crystallize into reality. Oh, what can it all mean!? What can it all mean!?
