It is my opinion that the residents of what is considered south maplewood need to band together to cut all ties with the corrupt, volatile, and controlling government that is an embarassment to all 40,000 residents. We have the last real undeveloped land around, and the residents of innovation are forward thinking enough to realize that maplewood proper is miles north of where we live, lets band together to model our community into a first class city, and leave all the corruption where it belongs, on county road b. Thank you Will Rossbach for giving the residents in my neighborhood a reason to consider becoming innovation!!

There was never a proposed smoke ban. It was a citizen "task force" that met to look at issues related to burning in residential neighborhoods. The group included more people that were in favor of residential burning than those opposed to it, but the real purpose was to look at this issue and come up with some recommendations for the City Council. The recommendations centered on community education. The only people who kept talking about banning were people who weren't part of the Task Force, and who, for reasons only they understand, wanted to spread false rumors and get people charged up over a lie. The website mentioned above reflects that attitude. A better description of what took place can be found here

The spokesperson of the Task Force, a Maplewood resident who is strongly in favor of burning, was very clear in stating "that banning wood burning in the city was never discussed during the task force's seven meetings over the period of about a year." Council Member Will Rossbach said "Everybody in the room [on the Task Force] agreed that wasn't what we were trying to do."

CC

The so called Maplewood Voters Coalition who appear to be affiliated with Mr. Nephew anbd Mr. Rossbach, tend to ignore the fact that this group prefers to a Limit to Residents and Business of Maplewood for speaking at the Council Meetings. I found this on their site today. When you don't want to hear what residents have to say, why would you think you should be voted into any position for our city? It also appears that the smoke issue is low profile right now, due to this election. Please voters do not forget who wanted this passed. Some builders still offer the fire place in building new homes.

What about John Wykoff? Isn't this the guy who favored succesion for Maplewood? If so, he got world-wide attention for this 'out-of-the-box' thinking as a solution to Maplewood's woes. He seems like the only non-career politician of the bunch. I'd vote for him in a minute, but voter apathy will probably return the same ineffective, and potentially corrupt gang......

Corruption and cronyism is all that Maplewood has had since 2005. Hjelle, Longrie and company have made Maplewood a laughingstock. Good luck in November, you're gonna need it.
