Report: Some fear Pres. Obama might put whites ‘in the back of the bus’

As Barack Obama seals the deal on the Democratic nomination, it seems there’s an uptick in writing about both overt and subtle kinds of  racism that infect our language and political psychology. But a startling report from Al-Jazeera lays bare the blunt racism Obama faces in places like eastern Kentucky. While familiar, thinly veiled kinds of racism make the report — “I hope he don’t [get the nomination] because I don’t want to vote for a — I’m not racist or anything like that, but I just don’t want somebody in there like that” — so do more harsh kinds. For instance, the report states that some whites fear retribution from a black president for institutional slavery and years of discrimination against blacks. As one man, a retired coal miner, put it, “The white people has put the negroes in the back of the bus for years, and if we’re not careful were gonna be in the back of the bus and they’re gonna be in the front.”

Yeah, that radical Arab Muslim MIKE KIRSCH is clearly not to be trusted… Just LISTEN to the vile hatred spewing from the mouth of this radical!

Seriously, “swiftee,”:  Did you even WATCH this?????  What, exactly, is wrong with you?

Like it or not, Al-Jazeera is a respectable news organization that goes out of its way to present all sides (including Israel’s, by the way) and is almost certainly more objective than, say, FOX “News.”

You strike me as someone who hasn’t seen it yet, so I must highly recommend the film “Control Room.”

It’s good that you question the media — I just wonder a.) on what basis, and b.) how you question OUR media…

Oh no, you didn't! “But a startling report from Al-Jazeera…”

So tell me Paul, was this report hidden somehwere in the “Beheadings of Note” section, or can it be found in the opinion page, right after the commentary on “How many lashes per day are permissable when training a new wife”?
