“The price of cutbacks at the Strib”: That’s how David Erickson titled a tweet this morning about an error-riddled Star Tribune photo caption (still uncorrected as of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday; corrected at 12:42 pm) for a May 26 story. The cringeworthy caption reads: “Matthew Xiong 17 of Brooklyn Park did a head stance as he jammed too the DJ?s beat in the B-Boy battle at Soundset festival Sunday at the metro dome parking lot.” (See the photo and caption after the jump.)

Mapping the mayhem: Erica Smith’s “Paper Cuts” blog at GraphicDesignr couldn’t be more aptly titled for her new project, an interactive GoogleMaps-based look at the jobs eliminated in the news business cross-country since mid-2007. Via E&P.
