Pawlenty: Palin is a prime candidate for ‘future government service’
Monday, July 27, 2009 at 4:07 pm
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin got props from Gov. Tim Pawlenty on Fox News after she resigned Sunday. “The future is really wide open for her, and I don’t think she’s been ruled out, or should be ruled out for future government service,” he told Geraldo Rivera.
Palin is in a position to “do whatever she wants,” Pawlenty said twice.
Pawlenty discounted his rivalry with Palin for the Republican presidential race in 2012:
I don’t view Gov. Palin as an opponent, I view her as a friend and a colleague and somebody I’ve worked with on a number of issues. So I have a lot of respect for her, and I don’t know who all’s gonna run in 2012 or not run.
That leaves it to commentators to gauge whether Palin’s second big speech about her resignation was batty enough to give him a boost. CBS News’ Political Hotsheet:
Pawlenty’s new role stands in contrast to the trajectory of Sarah Palin, another prominent Republican who has been pegged over the past year as a potential leader in the party.
Here’s the Fox video of Pawlenty with Rivera:

So how much longer will it take TPaw to reach peak has-been? He’s going to be too inconsequential for even a pundit job by 2012.
