The Longworth House Office Building in Washington, D.C., was evacuated Wednesday afternoon when a suspicious package was found near the office of Rep. Tim Walz, Air America is reporting. Update: The suspicious package was sent to Walz and contained a medal, but because of a chemical stain, the FBI was prompted to investigate.
The package was found at around 12:20 pm Washington time on the seventh floor. Initial tests were inconclusive so authorities have transported the package to Quantico for further testing.
House staff were evacuated from the building for several hours and allowed to return around 5:30 pm.
More to come.
