This is something extremely important to the community. The HIV and Hepatitis C rates are going to continue to grow in Minnesota. All we can do is take care of each other. We will continue to do needle exchange no matter what it takes, it would just be a lot easier if we had some help.

Tax deductions for nonprofit contributions were not eliminated. They were reduced a bit, but not eliminated. People, especially big money donors, still get a nice deductioon for donating to worthy causes like this one.

What about Obama and his tax bill that eliminates the tax break for making contributions to non-profits? Some blame must surely go to him for drying up some of the private funders. Maybe not so much in this case, but in other non-profits.

Certainly not a great situation, but the blame should be spread around a little.

Sad to think that for 10 "Cash for Clunkers" funds, the government could have kept this program going. No one likes to admit there are people that use IV drugs in this country. But the costs of treating the associated needle-borne illnesses obviously outweighs the cost of such programs. One of the easier things to figure out made more difficult by the "righteousness" of this country. We'll spend ourselves into oblivion before we ever come to our senses. I thought the drug addicts were supposed to have the warped view of the world? No, it's politicians, and their drug is greed.
