Absent at Xcel: Where was Franken?

“Where was Al?” That’s the question TPT’s Mary Lahammer is asking.

The Xcel Energy Center was teeming with Democratic Party bigwigs, elected officials and delegates at last night’s rally, but candidate Franken was nowhere to be seen. His opponent heading into this weekend’s DFL convention, Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer, was in attendance and working the crowd. Franken has remained neutral throughout the primaries and apparently remains so.

Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer, ringing Minnesota bells There is a nifty little gimmick at Jack’s office these days.  Whenever a previously undecided or leaning Franken delegate says that they will vote for Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer on the first ballot, someone rings a bell.  Well, last night while I was at the JNP office, we kept getting phone calls from the volunteer that was going around the Xcel Center crowd with Jack, and she would announce that it was time to ring the bell.  It was a very musical night.  They all have been recently.
