Just one day after it was announced that former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner will be the keynote speaker at the Democratic National Convention, the Sunlight Foundation reveals that the senate contender has received more money from registered lobbyists than any other candidate in the country. Warner has pocketed $206,000 in contributions from lobbyists so far this year — almost $90,000 more than any other candidate.

Holding down the next four spots on the list: Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY, $118,800), John Sununu (R-NH, $112,600.02), Max Baucus (D-MT, $111,500) and Roger Wicker (R-MS, $106,500). Of the 20 candidates receiving the most money from lobbyists in 2008, half are Republicans and half Democrats.

Hitting the list in 19th place is Sen. Norm Coleman, who has received $55,350 from lobbyists so far this year. Among his benefactors: John Engler, a lobbyist for the National Association of Manufacturers ($2,000); William Kirk Blalock, of Fierce, Isakowitz & Blalock, whose major clients include Sprint Nextel, Time Warner and the National Cable & Telecommunications Association ($1,000); Deborah Harrisson, a lobbyist for Marriott International ($2,300); and Kenneth Butler, whose clients include Anoka County and the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association ($1,000).
