President Michele Bachmann? Only if God says so

michele-bachmannRep. Michele Bachmann told hard-right news service World Net Daily that she would run for president if “the Lord” called her to run. Bachmann, one of the most high-profile and controversial members of Congress, made a similar statement about her first run for Congress in 2006 in a speech at Living Word Christian Center.

She told WorldNetDaily:

“If I felt that’s what the Lord was calling me to do, I would do it,” she answered. “When I have sensed that the Lord is calling me to do something, I’ve said yes to it. But I will not seek a higher office if God is not calling me to do it. That’s really my standard.

“If I am called to serve in that realm I would serve,” she concluded, “but if I am not called, I wouldn’t do it.”

And in 2006 she said:

God then called me to run for the United States Congress, and I thought ‘What in the world will that be for?’ and my husband said ‘You need to do this,’ and I wasn’t so sure, and we took 3 days and we fasted and we prayed and we said, ‘Lord. Is this what you want? Is this your will?’ and after long about the afternoon of day two, he made that calling sure. And its been now 22 months that I’ve been running for United States Congress. Who in their right mind would spend 2 years to run for a job that lasts 2 years? You’d have to be absolutely a fool to do that. You are now looking at a fool for Christ. This is a fool for Christ.

Please let Tarryl Clark know enough Scripture to sway enough of the more moderate
Christianists into neutrality about the need to keep Bachmann in office.

I am so tired of fighting this incipient theocracy craziness.

Now more than ever the bumper sticker “Jesus, save us from your followers” holds true. Bachman proves that yes God does make mistakes.

Why not? The GOP has already shown that one political whacked-out nutcase skirt can drive it’s right wingnut white guys and their closeted bisexual wives crazy. “Palin/Bachmann ’12: Kneepads For Everyone”

Though I’m not a republican, i’d hate to think my friends who are would help fund a presidential run for someone like Mrs. Bachmann. Or, for that matter, a run by Mrs. Palin.

Neither of these two prominent republican spokeswomen have enough of a grasp the realities of domestic or foreign policy.

There would be a tremendous waste of resources in the process.

Let’s hope God keeps out of US presidential politics altogether. For a change. Those who are called by God to do things have a poor track record of being responsive to us mere mortals who are the citizens our president must answer to

Tonight at the county fair-Bachmann Palin Overdrive! Can two trapped in high school princesses coexist at the executive level and make this country rock like it used to ( in the fevered imaginations of deluded housewives and paid liars like Newt Gingrich)? Taking care of business has a whole new meaning with Bachmann Palin Overdrive! Your book burning party and praying for a spontaneous abortion so your uterus isn’t punctured by a dead decaying fetus knitting bee will never be the same after Bachmann Palin Overdrive!!!! Imagine the joy at your death panel hearing when you tell them Bachmann Palin Overdrive sent you to wave a Down’s Syndrome infant at them like a Cabbage Patch Doll and shout in tongues at their heathen ways!

[...] I’ve got to think the scenario she describes is at least in the area of 50% more than slavery. But hey, she’s only a member of the United States congress. I suppose I shouldn’t expect too much from a woman who’s waiting for a call from God to tell her whether or not she should run for President. [...]

If we could only find a way to harness the raw power of Michele Bachmann’s stupid we would solve all our energy needs.

[...] Technically, the ringleader of the Republican Party was Michael Steele, a character of such odd bravado and frequent foot-in-mouth moments we hope he never steps down. The other great new hopes of Republicanism each found a way to uninspire. Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal elicited comparisons to Kenneth the Page and was rightfully derided for criticizing “something called volcano monitoring”. Mark Sanford mysteriously disappeared to go hike the ol’ Appalachian Trail, a trail that ended at the north ridge of the vulva of his Argentinian mistress. The GOP Queen of dunces Hearts, Sarah Palin, quit her job as Governor of Alaska (the state’s better off, frankly) to dictate public policy from Facebook and write an error-riddled hatchet job against former allies. And Michele Bachmann… remained Michele Bachmann, a lovable little fuzz ball who hinted she’d run for president if God told her to. [...]

Has Ms. Bachmann ever related specifically how God told her to run? I have been a Christian all of my life, and have never received such a clear signal (or did not recognize it) as Ms. Bachmann claims to have received. I would be really interested in learning how these signals from God are transmitted and whether they are clearly objective or more subjective of interpretation.
