I can’t Gitmo satisfaction

Ever wonder what it’s like to get waterboarded? Artist Steve Powers has created an art installation of the torture mechanism that masquerades as a corporate-sponsored thrill ride at New York’s Coney Island Amusement Park. The sign for the Waterboard Thrill Ride includes a soaked and tied-up SpongeBob Square Pants exclaiming, "It don’t Gitmo better!" Viewers are reportedly so disturbed by the orange-suited robot being tortured inside the installation they have to look away.

After all, "waterboarding" does have a fairly innocuous, even Six Flagsian ring to it for something so seriously abusive. Hey, it’s as if the American military has its own marketing team coming up with new language to describe repugnant activities and torture devices or something! Wonder what sort of installation Powers can create with the reportedly 3 feet by 3 feet by 6 feet wooden crates that are being used by the American military as "segregation boxes" for Iraqi prisoners?

Hmmm, I’d prefer waterboarding to having my head hacked off. This is of course after having my genetalia ripped from my body, being sodomized, having my ears cut off and being tortured for days prior to the beheading. Too bad your idealistic world falls short of reality.
