I can't believe any bar/restaurant owners are falling for the late night liquor license scam for the upcoming convention. When NYC, where I live, had the convention in 2004 it killed the bar & restaurant business that entire week. Everyone who could take vacation that week did just that. Just about everyone else went straight home as soon as the work day ended. The delegates and the other freeloaders they had in tow got their free drinks and meals at the hotels. Those deadbeats figured out every angle to avoid putting their hands in their pockets. Even the cab drivers sat around doing nothing because there were shuttle buses for them. Good luck to any business hoping to make a buck next week.

Fabulous Fern's on Selby is planning on staying open the entire length of the GOP brawl. Of course, Neocons are not likely to be seen in this particular establishment as Fab Fern…well we needn't say more.

Jason Hoppin's Pioneer Press story today (linked in the post above at “holding steady at exactly zero”) listed Aqua, First Avenue, Brothers, The Local and The Saloon, plus the three strip clubs, one of which apparently is the Seville. By my math that leaves one unnamed club in Minneapolis open to the public 'til 4 a.m. during the Republican convention. Although keep in mind these and the others are only applicants at this stage, and the PiPress story says Minneapolis is taking applications through Monday so there could be more.

What, exactly, are these nine Minneapolis establishments? Two articles on this today listed exactly two locations specifically, and noted the three strip clubs, but we're yet to have a list of all the locations. What are they?
