In an interview with AM 1280 on Saturday, Rep. Michele Bachmann announced that she will have Rep. Ron Paul as her guest for a September town hall forum in St. Cloud.

“I’ll be doing another town hall up in the St. Cloud area in September and we’ll do that on monetary policy. Ron Paul is going to come in and we are going to host something on monetary policy,” Bachmann said.

Bachmann is a convert to the Ron Paul movement, sometimes attending the congressman’s weekly lunches.

“I especially want to speak to the 19- to 20-year olds so they can know what there future will be under this level of debt accumulation and spending,” she added about the forum. “They need to know their future. And so I’m bringing him in so we can have a discussion on monetary policy.”

How can one acquire tickets? I’d like to discuss fiscal responsibility under republicans starting with Ronnie R.

You should Dave! I’ve heard Paul call Reagan a “complete failure” in that area…which is a big no-no in Republican circles. But, as you should know, Ron Paul is a truth-teller. I’m sure you’d learn alot, as most people would, by asking Paul anything regarding fiscal or monetary policy. I wish I could be there.

I wish I could go to. Problem is I am out in NM. A bit too far for me. Don’t think any of the democratic congressmen out here would host Paul.

This will most likely be the most informative Town Hall meeting offered, I wish I could be there.
Ron Paul is a true statesman and a truth-teller.

Can’t wait! Dr. Paul in our backyard. Very cool. I’ll have to bring some stuff for people to get signed! Mini posters maybe?

Thanks Michelle for getting the good doctor out. It’s been about a year now!

Michelle Bachmann _IS_ God! Well, not quite, but she’s the nearest thing to it this side of Dr. Paul’s congressional district!

Michelle Bachmann is batshit insane, no one should take anything she has to say with an open mind since she does not have one herself. Ron Paul however is the man, I want to listen in on this.

How did a statesman like Ron Paul agree to a public meeting with the ever-delusional Michelle Bachmann? He has some good ideas, but to ally himself with a right-wing nut like her certainly isn’t going to help his image. He’d gain more credibility being seen with octo-mom, Jacko’s corpse, or dancing with Tom DeLay on TV. Still, this event would be fun to see. After all, it’s rare for Bachmann to open her mouth in public and not say something stupid… which is always good for a laugh.

I think Ron Paul, who held his convention here, was well respected by
those in Minnesota. Since Minnesota has been a democratic state
for many years, it is time to turn the tides. Michelle Bachman stands
out for honesty in our government and has finally caught on to those
in the dark hats. Ron Paul makes sense when he speaks and by
reaching out to those younger crowds will help to maintain the
conservative stability of our state. We need to abolish this bill for
Obamacare. Plain and simple. The whole of the hidden agenda
sucks…takes away privacy of individuals and businesses. Pays
for abortions and illegal immigrants…I don’t want my tax dollars
going there. Deciding who lives and who dies and promoting
euthanasia. We also don’t need a 14 pound 3000 page document
to fix healthcare. Obummer and his 41 czars need to take a
rocket to the moon and dine on moondust. I’m sorry but I cannot
stand him!

For those who are wondering why RP is “allying” with Bachmann – he’s not “allying” with her anymore than Obama “allies” with communists or terrorists like Ayers.

Just appearing with somebody or talking with somebody doesn’t mean you fully endorse their views.

Cause if you’re gonna play the guilt-by-association card, that’s gonna backfire, considering the radical ties of the president.

I know some people think Michelle Bachman is a flake, but she has also made some pretty courageous statements also. I know Keith Olbermann tried to portray her as a ditz or something, but for the Most Part, I see her Posing Tough Questions and Demanding Accountability which are Very Legitimate measures. So, you can think whatever you want about her, but Michelle Bachman is really fighting for America in her own manner. I think we need to start Focusing on the Real Enemies of America and stop Dividing those that are atleast doing Something in the cause of Freedom. I will say on Michelle’s part that she is Anti-Fed,Anti-War,Anti-U.N.,Anti-Blackwater,Anti-Government Cover Ups,and Anti-Genocidal

I have a great deal of respect for Rep. Ron Paul’s views on foreign policy, particularly his opposition to the Bush doctrine. That’s why it’s so disappointing to see Dr. Paul share the stage with Rep. Michele Bachmann, who acted as a cheerleader and congressional rubberstamp for the Bush administration’s neocon policies.

Here are some Bachmann quotes from her 2006 congressional campaign, when the situation in Iraq was at it very worst, with sectarian factions on the brink of civil war:

Michele Bachmann’s campaign platform includes “supporting the war in Iraq.” (St. Cloud Times, May 7, 2006)

Michele Bachmann: “The American people are responding overwhelmingly to the progress we’ve made in Iraq recently.” (St. Cloud Times, July 2, 2006)

Michele Bachmann: “It’s difficult to define victory, but … we’ve had very good news on that score.” (St. Cloud Times, Sept. 21, 2006)

Bachmann … stuck to her guns, supporting Bush’s prosecution of the war in Iraq. (St. Cloud Times, Sept. 22, 2006)

Bachmann “reiterated her support for Bush’s prosecution of the war in Iraq, saying that ‘we have made tremendous progress’.” (St. Cloud Times, Oct. 8, 2006)

And then there’s her infamous remarks to Lawrence Schumacher of the St. Cloud Times in February 2007, about a a nonexistent secret plan to partition Iraq:

“Iran is the troublemaker trying to tip over apple carts all over Baghdad right now because they want America to pull out. … they’re going to partition Iraq and half of Iraq, the western-northern portion of Iraq is going to be called the United … umm … the … umm … I am sorry I can’t remember the actual name of it right now.

“But it’s going to be called … the … umm … Iraq State of Islam, something like that. I am sorry I don’t have the official name. It is meant to be the training ground for the terrorists.

“There’s already an agreement made, they are going to get half of Iraq and that is going to be a terrorist-free … umm … terrorist safe haven zone where they can go ahead and make more attacks in the Middle East region and then to come against the United States, because we are their avowed enemy.”

I live in Michele Bachmann’s district and would love to hear her talk – but she rarely appears in this district. I see her more on tv than anywhere around here. I’m hoping to get to this meeting; I’m sure both the Congresswoman and Ron Paul will have some interesting things to say.

BetsyRoss, you are not correctly informed about the Health Care bill – House Bill 3200, the only bill introduced in its entirety to this point, explicitly states in Section 246 (page 143 of the 1018 page bill) “No Federal Payment for Undocumented Aliens.” In fact, under current law, illegal aliens do not qualify for Federal programs; this will not change with the health care reform bills currently being discussed. About half of the illegals currently have health insurance.

Also, the Hyde Amendment, law since 1977, does not allow federal tax dollars to pay for abortions. Again, the health care reform bills do not change that law.

“Euthanasia,” “death panels,” etc. are NOT in the health reform bill. See Section 1233 Advance Care Planning Consultation (pages 424-433) which in short states that the patient MAY consult with a doctor and explain what “life-sustaining” treatments he or she would prefer. This consultation will be PAID FOR through the health insurance. Also note on page 427 “all legal barriers have been addressed for enabling orders for life sustaining treatment to constitute a set of medical orders respected across all care settings…” Nowhere in this section does the word “government” show up; this section addresses and stresses the doctor-patient relationship in coordinating the medical treatment that the PATIENT wishes. The words “life-sustaining” show up no less than eleven times.

Search for Affordable Health Choice Act of 2009 (House Bill 3200) to read the bill for yourself. Don’t rely on other folks to do your thinking for you!

BTW, Aubrey – in case you haven’t noticed (I suspect you have) there’s been a pretty remarkable evolution underway regarding Ms.Bachmann’s politics, and more and more she’s lining up against the neo-con/neo-lib & internationalist tendencies so rife in both major parties. Most of the policy stuff you cite dates back to her first 18 months in national office, which I agree was pretty dismal at times. As far as Dr. Paul appearing with her, she’s increasingly become one of his economics and individual liberties allies, and despite Dr. Paul’s ‘Dr. No’ voting record, he’s very well liked and well respected on both sides of the aisle, because he’s respectful, thoughtful, and inclusive rather than caustic towards his adversaries. In short he’s a statesman like few others today, and more exposure to that certainly cannot hurt Ms. Bachmann. Since you’ve tossed the hat into the political fray in the past yourself, I’d be interested to hear how you align with or against Dr. Paul’s stances- I know you frown on the Bush doctrine of internationalist-minded interventions into foreign sovereign states as he does, wonder if your disdain is similar for the same from Obama. And even more telling- the more domestic intrusions into personal privacy that go unchecked by the new administration, all of the centrally planned social engineering being applied through dismal govt-administered schooling, and by govt politicians on all levels with the courts behind them, all of the massive growth in authoritarianism for the purposes of social engineering; all of this the brainchild of the corporate/internationalist/industrialists and their myriad foundations- do you see eye to eye with the Dr. on these more domestic trends that have destroyed and are destroying family, community, and the very founding principles of the country, and purposely so?

I see most are not in “favor” of Michelle Bachman…a woman who has raised
something like 17 kids. She would surely know what kind of medical care
one would need for their children. I disagree with those who don’t like her,
as what she may have done 3 years ago is NOT what she is doing these
days. Her joining up with the Ron Paul Patriots is great. She is showing
America that she sides with us who are anti everything (war, energy, education,
big oil spending n waste, high taxation, etc.) showing us that she can be a
voice for the New Reformed Republican Party. For Ron Paul who believes that
the government should NOT take care of us from cradle to grave, is the voice
of Americans. The “shadow government” and “one world elites” would love to
take us down that blind path we know nothing about. We are but pawns in a
huge planetary game in which they would love to destroy us human beings.
By peacefully demonstrating our rights to free speech (which could also be
taken away, any day, any moment in time) we show the opposition that we
are aware of their deceitful operations and plans. We will NOT abide by it.
We would rather lay down our lives for our children and grand children then
have some blood sucking thirsty underground society tell us how we shall
live or die. Like Glenn Beck says “Question BOLDLY AND LOUDLY”
Peace, love and good will to all….Patriot Betsy Ross

I would like to see the 2012 Republican President and Vice President candidates be Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin. I would bet they would have a landslide loss. Bachmann is an absolute “nut” and Palin is just not very bright politically.
