MnIndy’s indefatigable political correspondent, Paul Demko, is spending the day at Farm Fest in Redwood County, Minnesota, where Tim Pawlenty was scheduled to speak at lunchtime and the first Coleman/Franken debate took place this morning. I spoke with Demko a little while ago, and he reports that
a) "Wireless internet" is still an unconfirmed rumor in Redwood County, Minnesota; and
b) Norm Coleman caused a bit of a stir by showing up with wife Laurie, who is not exactly famous for appearing at her beloved’s side during Norm’s 2002 campaign or this one. Maybe Laurie had never seen a cow in person and wanted to. More likely, though, Coleman’s having her in tow as he appears before one of the most socially conservative crowds in the state is a sign that he is starting to take seriously the suddenly coherent-looking campaign of Al Franken.
More from Demko about the day’s events here later.
