Will Norm Coleman follow his colleagues’ lead? Update: Aaron Landry at MNPublius reports that that answer is no.
Coleman called the indictment “a very, very serious matter,” but added, “Under our system of justice, people are presumed innocent until proven guilty. I look at that principle before making any decisions about returning any contributions.”
In the wake of the indictment of Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, a number of endangered Republican senators have rid themselves of money from Stevens’ Northern Lights PAC. The campaign of Sen. Norm Coleman has accepted $10,000 from Stevens over the last few months. Coleman’s Northstar Leadership PAC gave Steven’s campaign $5,000 in 2007.
Sens. Elizabeth Dole, N.C., John Sununu, R-N.H., Gordon Smith, Ore., and Susan Collins, Maine, have announced plans to donate contributions from Stevens to charity.
Stevens was indicted Tuesday on seven felony counts for lying about contributions from a now defunct oil company.

Jim – to be extremely fair here – Craig had pleaded guilty; Stevens is only accused. Coleman’s campaign is using the “innocent until guilty” rationale.
Aaron – nice job providing linkage to support your case. For the record, the PiPress’s Rachel Stassen Berger reported on this, but nothing in the Strib today near as I could find for Daily Glean.

Coleman previously returned money from Larry Craig. I guess that means being accused of being gay is worse than being accused of public corruption. To Coleman, at least.

Coleman is now on the record saying he’s keeping the money.
