Rep. Michele Bachmann will be among eight legislators (four from each party) debating energy policies today. The other participants: Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), Jay Inslee (D-WA), Denny Rehberg (R-MT), Hilda Solis (D-CA), Bart Stupak (D-MI), Fred Upton (R-MI), and Zach Wamp (R-TN). The debate, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (CST) at Tulane University, will be broadcast here. Presumably Bachmann will explain her faith-based plan for bringing gas prices down to $2 a gallon.

Bachmann once again is touting her trip to the National Renewable Energy Lab in Golden, CO, and urging “everyone” to visit the lab to see all the wonderful work they’re doing. Then she calls for long-term renewable energy tax credits. Yet Bachmann has voted against renewable energy and against renewable energy tax credits at every opportunity she’s had since taking office.

Of course, our somnambulate local political reporters couldn’t ever be troubled to call her on it.

Paul, I read Msr. Birkeys article you linked above (http://www.minnesotaindependent.com/4685/bachma…). Please tell me where “faith based” is written about in the article. Since I've been reading the MN Independant, I'm getting a very good idea of what and who you folks are. It's fine you're Libs, no big deal. But in a lot of the Independants writings there is either an embelishment of the truth or out and out lie; as mentioned above, no where in Birkeys article did faith or God get mentioned in the article, so my question is this: Why do you either stretch the truth or lie? Is this the way libs win elections?

Karl, first off, prove it. Next off, I'll help you. Most of the energy bills also contained earmarks unrelated whatsoever to energy policy, which is why a no vote was cast, saving taxpayers (me at least, I don't know about you) millions of dollars. Let me ask you this; energy legislation was proposed prior to Congress'
5 week recess where the “vaunted” Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) ordered the lights shut off in the house chambers and adjourned Congress without allowing a vote on this bill. A simple “up or down” vote could have been called, but she denied the vote. So please tell me, who's culpable here???????

Bachmann voted against the bill because it was full of earmarks unrelated to anything regarding energy. That bill would have cost taxpayers a fortune.
