I wonder if Mary can explain how our system of government was based on the Ten Commandments when the 1st Commandment and the 1st Amendment are diametrically opposed.

"Thou shalt have no other gods before me..."
"...the right of free expression shall not be abridged..."

I'm sick to death of the ill-informed, who think David Barton has never told a lie, making claims that are clearly and demonstrably false.

And as a humanist, whatever that means, since humanism is a religion, please tell me to which deity I should be directing my prayers each day. I'm confused by that.

No, I don't need to have the last word. Just hoping you might answer my question.

"The next step is up to you…and it starts with opening up your heart to Jesus. Until you do, all will remain veiled. " You are clearly confused about what "all will remain veiled" means.

Let me sum up your arrogant prayer: "God, please manipulate and control this person until their life resembles something I think it should."

But still, feel free to tell me where my facts and logic are wrong.

Well Dave, it appears we have found some common ground afterall! ....Unfortunately, it's that we both appear to have the verocious need to get the last word in...

As for myself...think I need some time with God allowing Him to correct that in me.

So with that said, I am putting an end to my part in this discussion. I've enjoyed our debate on worldviews but I feel I have said all I can say at this juncture to try to persuade you to look at how you are in fact being decieved. The next step is up to you...and it starts with opening up your heart to Jesus. Until you do, all will remain veiled. And, your right Dave I honestly would not want that for you. Because I, along with your Creator, care about you.

After I prayed for you this morning, I felt the Lord wanted me to tell you one more thing before I go.... As long as you put all your hope into man, you will never be satisfied.

And the tantrum begins... predictable.

As I said Dave, I'll continue to pray for you. One day everyone will know the Truth. I'd rather live my life believing there is a God and my salvation rests in Him, and if I happen to find out in the end there isn't, well, not really a big deal is it? ....then to live my life believing there isn't and then find out I was terribly wrong. Eternity is a terrible gamble to make....I'd lay my bets on the first.

2 Corinthians Chapter 4 ~ Our Treasures in Jars of Clay. This is the Truth I will rest in.

This is funny:
"Iraq…you don’t honestly believe one Christian was responsible for the war?? The presence of evil in this world is responsible for war…period."

Well, since no new U.S. Military operations occur without the Commander-in Chief's orders, no one else could be responsible. But you say evil must have forced his hand, huh? That's not even what the President said. He said "God told me to invade Iraq." So was he listening to God, or to evil? No one else made that decision for him; he admitted that it was his decision. I hope that you are nothing more than just confused.

-

You are definitely confused about Hitler; while he and the Nazis did work to subjugate the power of the church over the population of Germany, here's some of the things he said:

"I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator. "

"The folkish-minded man, in particular, has the sacred duty, each in his own denomination, of making people stop just talking superficially of God's will, and actually fulfill God's will, and not let God's word be desecrated. For God's will gave men their form, their essence and their abilities. Anyone who destroys His work is declaring war on the Lord's creation, the divine will. "

"Secular schools can never be tolerated because such schools have no religious instruction, and a general moral instruction without religious foundation is built on air; consequently all character training and religion must be derived from faith . . ."

Sounds like the kind of wonderful messages you can hear on FOTF's radio shows...

I was not asking if you knew of suffering, Mary. I was pointing out that you support those who help perpetuate the unfair system we have - and that definitely includes FOTF and similar groups. Only liberals talk about living wage jobs; it's only because we have a liberal in the white house (allegedly) that anything is being done about health care reform. Conservatives who claim to have a better idea are dishonest - they already did their best when they had complete control over the government for 4 years - NOTHING.

Dave...by egregious ethical lapses, I assume you are talking about the Crusades as an example. This in fact, proves my point on what can happen when one sphere of influence in society gains too much power….especially a sphere that also holds the sword. It has happened in the religious sphere (ex the Crusades) and now it's happening in our governmental sphere. Does one justify the other?

Iraq...you don't honestly believe one Christian was responsible for the war?? The presence of evil in this world is responsible for war...period. Many mistakes have been made in Iraq but don't pin the whole idea on one Christian. And don't tell me that my nephew, a Marine, is going over there to fight for nothing. And as far as no American Humanist can top that...you may be correct in saying American...but take look into history and you will find a particular German humanist who most will agree IS CERTAINLY at the top of ANY list of atrocities. ...Hitler was in fact obsessed with Darwinian Theory. (another shocker...they are one and the same...Humanists and Darwinians)

Been without insurance? ...Why as a matter of fact Dave I have. I have also been at the bottom of the food chain in many aspects. Including having a baby when I was 17 and single...losing both my parents before I was 20. Drive and determination (not the government) was what helped me get through not only the rest of high school, but college as well. I married shortly after that and had another child but then in my early 30's, it got even crazier....I lost my husband, my job, MY HEALTH INSURANCE, my license because I couldn't afford auto insurance, remained unemployed for nearly a year and only by God's Grace, was I able to sell my home before it foreclosed and the bottom fell out of the housing market....only to end up homeless and living on a couch at my brothers.

So Dave, I do know a bit about suffering. I spent many months at the local food shelf trying to find a meal to feed my kids. Where was Focus on the Family? Right there along with Jesus Dave, every step of the way....only I didn't reach out and see it. It took awhile, but seeing the Truth is finally what set me and my family free. Honestly, I don't think I would have survived otherwise. And now, it's still not easy street for me. I DO know what it's like to work not just 2 jobs but 3 to support my family. It's not my government's job to do this...it's mine. And frankly, I have received more help from my local place of Worship than I ever did from Uncle Sam. Social programs are a great blessing but only because they can be chosen by free will...not mandated. I guarantee you, hypothetically the minute the government would step in to tell those food shelves...I so often visited...where and what we can eat based on this or that criteria...the purpose will collapse. Just as health-care is destined to if the government gets a hold of it.

My solution to Health-Care? …Go after the problem..Health Insurance COMPANIES. Our government ought to get back into the business of actually governing and pass some laws (with real teeth) to prevent the HMO's from robbing us blind…and then actually enforce them. Maybe then we can afford to put more of our dollars into RESPONSIBLE social programs to help those who are uninsured.

And for the record...I am not a Focus on the Family follower...I am a Jesus Christ follower, Focus on the Family is an organization that provides an amazing amount of positive support TO ME, in my daily battle to survive in this mixed up world.

The Capitol being a Masonic Temple? Hmm..something to look into....well then, what better place to regain a foothold of prayer to get that old satanic influence out of there! Thanks Dave for giving me more to pray about!

Finally Dave....This is THE ULTIMATE FACT ~ One day every knee will bow...it's just a matter of when. I have been, and will continue to pray that you will too, before it's too late.

What is a declared religion? Is there an address for an organization of some kind that represents the humanistic religion? Maybe with a religious exemption certificate from the IRS?
