AM.MN: Will Bachmann help State Fair set attendance record today?

Attendance at the 2009 Minnesota State Fair is on the razor’s edge of setting an all-time record today. With 1.47 million passing the gates as of Saturday, officials said 300,000 more people Sunday and Monday would break 2001′s total. U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann and her blood brothers could hold a town hall in the grandstand and get it over with early. But DumpBachmann says a 4 p.m. local radio appearance on health care suggests she won’t be wiping any corndog ketchup off her wrists today.
STATE FAIR: Klobuchar, Pawlenty and Ellison talked triggers and co-ops on national cable TV Sunday. It was so gripping that “State of the Union” host John King forgot which state fair he was broadcasting from. [CNN]
EDEN PRAIRIE: I’ll have a summit, too. A corporate HQ will be the gathering spot for Republicans including Gov. Pawlenty, who declined an invitation to a more bipartisan gathering of current and former state leaders. [Star Tribune]
HENNEPIN COUNTY: The sick push property taxes up 5 percent. Without jobs or insurance, they fall back on the county hospital. [Star Tribune]
UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA: Good suites still available. Even those flush with health and cash aren’t buying $2,000 seats or $40,000 boxes at TCF Bank Stadium. [Associated Press]
IRON RANGE: Ore plants revive. Four of six taconite producers will be back on line by October. [Mesabi Daily News]
AUSTIN: Mural done. Part of a Main Street series, it has an “urban feel.” But why is the kid sitting on the skateboard? [Rochester Post-Bulletin]

I didn’t think the State Fair featured a freak show anymore.
