Bachmann to join ‘birthers’ at St. Cloud tea party?

bachmanniaFollowing her Saturday morning forum on health care reform in St. Cloud, Rep. Michele Bachmann’s got another engagement, according to the “Minnesota Tea Party Patriots.” She’ll be immediately heading to nearby Lake George for a “tea party” featuring gun-rights advocate (and MnIndy commenter) Joel Rosenberg and radio host Dave Thompson. But, according to Bluestem Prairie’s Sally Jo Sorensen, that might not be her only company. A flier left on a car in the city suggests the crowd will include those who believe conspiracies about President Obama’s birth certificate, so-called health reform “death panels” and Bachmann’s theory about a universal world currency.

The text of the flier (relayed to Sorensen by a resident, but with typos corrected) reads:

If you care about America, Join Us!
Tea-Party at
Lake George
Saturday September 12th 2009 from 10am to 1pm
Help stop the Socialist agenda.
Stand up against:
A president who isn’t even a U.S. citizen.
Death panels that plan to exterminate our seniors.
Propaganda aimed at brainwashing our children.
Plans to remove “In God We Trust” from our currency.
Making gun ownership illegal.
REAL AMERICANS UNITE!

Sorensen hasn’t heard back from event organizers about whether the flier is the work of a zealous fan or an official communique. She promises to scan and post the flier when she receives a copy.

Update: Bluestem Prairie commenter Leo Pusateri, who identifies himself as a tea party organizer, says the handout is not the event’s official flier.

Update: Bluestem Prairie has posted a scan of the flier.

If folks who were wrong about minor stuff — like where Obama was born, or that the Minnesota Independent is, well, independent — were excluded from attending the rally, I’d be horrified, myself.

The sponsors’ web page is at http://teapartymn.com/current-events/091209-march-on-dc/st-cloud/ . I see some stuff of interest to some in it, but, as opposed to a flier that somebody says was left on some windshield somewhere, there isn’t a mention of “death panels” or Obama’s citizenship.

The actual website at http://teapartymn.com/current-events/091209-march-on-dc/st-cloud/ reads:

Thanks for twice providing a link I included in my piece, Joel.

You’re more than welcome, Paul. I figured, what with it being hidden in plain sight as the middle link in your piece, with the supposed text from the supposed the flyer supposedly left on some supposed windshield dominating most of the unreal estate, above, a bit more of a pointer to the real stuff was warranted.

I’m not sure what the point of stuff found on windshields is, though. I just found a flyer on my windshield that says that asks “Is Paul Schmelzer the illegitimate love child of Mary Kate and Ashley?” which seems unlikely, them both being female and you being older than the twins. Really. (I typed it up myself, and put it on the windshield, so it wasn’t hard to find.)

Not true. I’m legitimately their love child!

No, and I’ve got the documentation to prove it around here… somewhere.

Go Joel.

And the independent is not so independent, more liberal.

Well, to quote CIM bigshot Robin “Rue” Marty accurately, albeit kinda out of context: if you have any questions about the independence of the Independent: “please hesitate to ask.”

Birther convention or no, this is crazy sh*t. Out of control spending? Hows about $13-20 TRILLION down the Pentagon hatch over the next ten years… more than every other nation combined. For a fraction we could provide health care for everyone and a lot of other cool stuff. Alas, the war racket is going strong under Ds and Rs alike.

Teabaggin’ in short:
Killing people? Go ahead, take my purse! And my children, too!
Healing people? Get a job, you communist mindrapist!

Out of control spending?

Well, yeah; look at the numbers, even without Obamacare.

Well subtract the wars then, too, because that’s what Bush did to sneak the cost of those past you.

My source has supplied a scan of the flyer, which is now posted on Bluestem Prairiev in a jpg format.. His friend car was parked in the SCSU parking garage when the flyer was placed on its windshield.

Joel, When you look at yourself in the mirror do you just chuckle and say “I am so full of shit but I am making a living doing it.”

Why, no, Dean. But thanks for asking, really.

See you at the Tea Party!

I spent a bit of time at the St. Cloud Tea Party looking for birther and deather and truther signs. Didn’t see any — didn’t even see Van Jones.

Bet Michelle was really disappointed. Did she find someone to “speak truth”

She gave a terrific speech. (Unsurprisingly, the Michele Bachmann who you see standing in front of a large, friendly crowd is somewhat different from the version constructed of gaffe snippets at MnIndy.) I thought King’s speech was the best of all, but I’m fond of erudite academics; fortunately for me, that isn’t a crime, yet.

Lots of variety of opinions — but, as far as I could tell, no truthers or birthers or deathers. Generally rightish, of course, but there was a small crowd of about six anti-Bachmann protesters at the fringe of [the crowd | political discourse]; I acknowledged them during my short speech. The video hasn’t been compressed, yet, but you can find it at http://jewwithagun.com/teaparty.MOV , if you’re interested.

Note that the crowd cheered a quote from Hillary Clinton, one from Hubert Humphrey, and an Eleanor Roosevelt story.
