Rep. Joe Wilson unearths secret plot to provide undocumented immigrants with free health care

I guess Rep. “Joe” Wilson (R-S.C.) — actually, Addison Graves Wilson, Sr. — found out about that secret Democratic plot to provide all illegal immigrants with free health care.

What else could explain his outburst — “You Lie!” — during President Obama’s speech on health care reform (video), responding to the president’s statement that “the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally”?

Perhaps Wilson believes that illegal immigrants ought not get emergency medical treatment, which is the only medical benefit they might qualify for — when they show up in a hospital on the verge of death, for example.

Or maybe it’s just because Wilson’s last campaign was supported by the Americans for Legal Immigration PAC — a restrictionist group that supports deporting all illegal immigrants in the United States rather than offering any opportunities for legalization, or “amnesty.”

ALIPAC gives Wilson an “A” for opposing “amnesties and ‘guest worker’ programs for illegal aliens along with other rewards such as in-state tuition and driver licenses.” I guess because he supports keeping them uneducated and untraceable if they get into a car accident.

Meanwhile, as MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann pointed out on his show tonight, Wilson has been writing op-eds spreading the rumor that Obama wants to install “death panels” to hasten the death of grandma.

So who’s lying?

[...] Joe Wilson, or should I say Addison Graves Wilson Sr., man up! You become the poster child for political incivility and all you can do is issue a written statement? How about you fess up to the fact that your little public tirade was itself a lie? (Or, could it be that Wilson’s uncovered some secret plot, something only he knows about?) [...]

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that there’s all this support for illegal aliens coming out of a Minnesota site. After all, that’s the state who likes to elect unqualified wackos as senators and governors. What part of ‘illegal’ don’t you understand? Why should these lawbreakers get preferential treatment over all the other immigrants who are vying for citizenship through the correct process?

Wilson should have controlled himself, to be sure, but there’s no justification for ANY government-sponsored handouts to people WHO DON’T BELONG HERE. Wake up!

Uh, Stan?

CNN Truth Squad: Will health bill pay for illegal immigrants?

[...]

The verdict:

False. A new report finds the bill could require illegal immigrants to buy coverage, but it clearly restricts subsidies to U.S. citizens and legal residents.

Associated Press:

The facts back up Obama. The House version of the health care bill explicitly prohibits spending any federal money to help illegal immigrants get health care coverage. Illegal immigrants could buy private health insurance, as many do now, but wouldn’t get tax subsidies to help them.

PolitiFact (St. Petersburg Times):

Obama can make a pretty thorough case that reform doesn’t apply to those here illegally. We don’t find the public option argument enough to make the case that Obama “lied.” We rate Wilson’s statement False.

I hope this guy gets whats coming to him, an electoral loss next November. People like him, spewing hate and vitriol, have no place within the halls of the US Government.

And shouting out that statement during a rare dual-session address by the President showed just how ignorant and racist some people still are in this country. He doesn’t have respect for Obama or his position.

South Carolina is just the forefront of political greatness these days eh? Their governor is rejecting federal stimulus money while using state taxpayer money to visit his mistress on another continent while one of their US representatives gets his information on domestic policy from chain-email letters and Glenn Beck. WOW! Maybe they should be a little more like NC!

Well, Paul, if you read my post for what it was, instead of knee-jerking, you’d realize I was commenting on the article’s hatchet job on Wilson’s voting record AGAINST preferential treatment for the illegals, such as driver’s licenses, in-state tuition grants, etc. Had nothing to do with the health care plan per se.

BTW, as I mentioned originally, it was totally wrong for him to utter that outburst, and IMO he ought to be censured (or whatever it is they do congresspeople who screw up). He doesn’t have to agree with the proposed policies, but the President (the office as well as the person) requires and deserves civility and respect in a public forum, no matter who he is.

The guy is a douche, nothing else can be said about that kind of behavior towards our current President, and a reflection of all past presidents of both parties who deserves at least our civility of respect.

I can see our founding fathers creating the consitution for the states, and this douche bag is going to help by yelling out “you lie”.

I voiced my opinion by donating to his Democratic opponent. I hopes others do the same by going to http://www.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/19079

This kind of behavior is not fitting to represent any district.

As a father of three, I would expect better manners and behavior from a child. I am so glad that this incompetent man does not represent my state. He should be ashamed of himself! I’m guessing this spineless marshmello of a man doesn’t have the intellegence or the guts to apologize the the President in person. I’m disgusted with him and becoming more disgusted with the Republician party.

What’s next big boy, throwing your shoe! I am disgusted at the “third world” behavior of our politicians. Misinformation is your forte’ not the President’s. You might want to employ a fact checker before you publicily humiliate yourself. Passion is admirable, but childish outbursts in the presence of the world reminds me of a undiciplined child at the supermarket.

You would expect such an outburst from a 10 year old kid, I’m certainly glad that Joe Wilson does not represent my state…The state that he represents should consider voting in someone with more class than Mr. Wilson who clearly showed the lack there of.

NO it is time that the people that we send to Washington yell at the top of their lungs what the people out here want. I am glad that he did what he did I wish that more of them had the balls to yell out the same thing. Decorum my ass all of the left do the same thing when Bush is setting in front of them and the get praised. I am standing up for him you bet. It is time!

Hey Stan, you are right, our state deserves criticism for sending people like Michelle Bachmann to congress and allowing her a national forum to demonstrate her hate and ignorance. We have a Guv that is ignoring his day job to memorize his script he receives every day in order to appeal to the “anti- he is not like one of us” crowd…so no offense taken at your shot.

I’m not surprised at all by such behavior from a public figure, especially the neo-cons. Dick Cheney, as the then-vice-president, got away with yelling at Senator Patrick Leahy “F* off. Go f* yourself.”in public. Do your expect their rank-and-files to be more “classy”?

It’s been tolerated for way too long that they got media attention by being uncivlived, such as with this summer’s heckers of town hall meeting. The new-cons has sunk to a new low last night.

The public outrage for Rep Joe Wilson has been amazing. Wikipedia cited vandalism on Joe’s page immediately following his thoughtless outburst, web sites popped up ridiculing him, donations to his Democrat opponent reached $200K overnight (5,000 individuals donated so far), his own web site is shut down, and his facebook page is filled with blistering criticism (and a few supporters that are merely showing their ignorance). The American public has spoken folks. They think Joe’s a low class ignorant jerk. Now even bloggers are having a field day with the entire GOP party which has lost quite a bit of brand equity and respect thanks to Joe. Recovering brand equity is very difficult, getting respect back is almost impossible. Good luck with that. His apology isn’t enough to do much for him. Too little, too late.

“The public outrage for Rep Joe Wilson has been amazing”???? Give me a break … get your facts right before you pen another missive!

THE PUBLIC OUTRAGE for BARACK, NANCY, and HARRY has been TRULY AMAZING and CORRECT!

PLEASE! It is about time that someone spoke up in congress. I only wish that others had followed Rep Joe’s example. He is correct in saying that what the president said is a lie. Barack repeated what the bill states but what he failed to mention is that what is included in the statement is just “make the public feel good” statement”. It will not be enforced as there is no requirement for anyone to show proof of citizenship or legal resident status.

Joe Wilson has earned my respect … Barack and his cohorts HAVE NOT … in my book “respect” is earned not automatically given.

Of course to you (Chris’ stupid sister) and others with similar views, I will always be wrong. I know from time to time, I forget my place in the crazy liberal planet you all believe you live in… only liberals have the right to protest and express their dissatisfaction against conservatives … only liberals have class … etc. etc. etc. Maybe someday, you will decide to visit the planet earth and allow reality to hit you straight in the face.

Are you people in Minnesota that blind? Yes, it states that no illegal can get health ins but there is no VERIFICATION and medical employees can’t ask those types of questions. If you do a little research you will find that the Republicans twice offered up amendments that would have the same verification as other federal programs but were voted down. It’s the same old typical sneek in the back door moves that Democrats are noted for.

Even if the bill did have a verification provision, don’t you people think that the president could just issue a signing statement and order the bureaucracy to not enforce it?

It work for his predecessor, he seemed to do that a lot, and I’m sure none of you patriotic amerikans complained about that, so it must be okay!

Shawn

Come on! If a law is not “enforced”, it becomes the problem with the law?
When did such twisted logic become the hallmark of the neo-cons?
Then, we’ll have no use for law enforcement, as the Judiciary Branch would be doing all the government’s job.

The fact of the matter is: every day, written laws are broken, without any consequences. Does it mean those borken laws are bad ones?
Say, speeding on highways, 99+% of the speeders never get caught, does this mean “Speed Limits” are stupid ideas?
In order to verify and enforce the laws, does it mean we need such device on your speedometer, that it would verify your speed and alarm the law enforcement every time when you are over the limits?
The same can be said about drunk driving. Does it mean the laws governing drunk driving are disingenuous, and that the lawmakers are “LIARS”?

This enforcement/verification argument is just another technicality issue to bring down a good law. Those who get stuck with this argument are truly the disingenuous ones.

Don’t you get it? First the Tea Parties… then the town hall “disturbances… now a representative challenges Obama in front of the world. Handmade signs are now popping up in my neighborhood in Florida stating “Obama DID lie”. It’s irreversible. We’re inching toward the next revolution where patriots take back America. The Democrats have an overwhelming majority and they are being hung out to dry.

The incident that occurred in Congress by Rep. Joe Wilson R-NC, illustrates the consequences of a blurring line between illegal immigration and health care. Our politicians have been alerted to the angry voices of the American people. For once they have disregarded the business campaign contributors and all the cloaked gifts given for services rendered by special interest lobbyists. Millions of US citizens are enraged with the status quo buying favors from our representatives that has led to our wilting economy. Today speaking on behalf of Washington committees on health care, the lawmaking emphasized that illegal aliens cannot access the new health reform package, that any person applying will be checked through government databases.

E-Verify might be implemented for this very issue, that it has shown in the majority of cases remarkable successes in remove illegal alien workers from the working environment. E-Verify can solve this problem and bring sanity back to immigration enforcement. E-VERIFICATION OF EACH AND EVERY AMERICAN WORKER MUST BE MADE PERMANENT? NOT JUST VOLUNTARY POLICY, BUT AS A FULL FORCE OF OPERATION CARRYING STRICT PENALTIES. This operation will work under federal policies? But what about state laws? California as an example is a Sanctuary state for millions of illegal immigrants and their families? Other border states are also occupied by large proportions of unlawful populations of foreign nationals?

This last year has culminated in huge financial losses in California caused by millions of low income illegal aliens, which has created a third world community within the United States. There must be federal measures to bring under control, massive spending benefits for people who have no right from benefiting from those who come here legally or were born here. How can any public health care option work at a state level, when states like California ignore federal law, regarding financial refuge to indigent people? Our own people remain homeless and in many cases without hope, when legislators have prioritized, health care, education an overloaded jail system and easy welfare money for illegal immigrants?

The once golden state has been using taxpayer money, to support illegal aliens, when the same expenditures should have been adopted for a collapsing infrastructure. Highways, schools, tunnels, bridges and dams in a dangerous state of disrepair? Our legislators in many cases have been seduced by lobbyists and should be banned from any contact with our politicians. This will never happen, but something must be done? Millions have been spent on derailing the health care reform currently and in the past, as has immigration enforcement. Rescinding 287(g) federal training for local police enforcement of immigration laws, the NO MATCH LETTER and the cutting back on ICE raids on obnoxious businesses using foreign workers.

The order to crush E-verify was given to Sen.Harry Reid, Speaker Pelosi, Janet Napolitano, but narrowly survived in the Senate chambers. Both political parties are equally to blame for not enforcing the 1986 Immigration Control & Reform Act that was inundated with fraud and a desire to weaken the laws. Now they want to rescind that law, offering yet another reform package that will never function? Let’s not kid ourselves! Huge veiled forces are at work to import as much cheap labor as possible with no restraints, lowering wages and an unconscionable burden on taxpayers.

DON’T LET THE POWERS IN WASHINGTON WHITEWASH THE FACTS! DEMAND THE ORIGINAL DESIGNED FENCE AND THE FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF E-VERIFY, 287 (g), THE SAVE ACT AND AS WRITTEN, THE 1986 SIMPSON/MAZZOLI BILL AND AMEND THEM IF NEED BE? NO MORE IMMIGRATION REFORM? DO THE JOB THEY WERE VOTED FOR? CALL YOUR POLITICIANS AT 202-224-3121 AND DEMAND THESE LAWS BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE? MORE ANSWERS FOUND AT NUMBERSUSA & JUDICIAL WATCH.

South Carolina has a long list of dignitaries that includes Lauren Caitlin Upton (Miss Teen USA 2007 pageant contestant), Board of Education Chair, Kristin Maguire, Governor (and avid Appalachian hiker), Mark Sanford and now Joe “the hater not a debater” Wilson or the “screamer not the dreamer” as others have dubbed him. I did enjoy him cut and running through his apology, which only goes to show that he stands for nothing. He is just another good old boy where in the morning these married men preach to you that there should be prayer in our schools and in the evening they are on their cell phones setting up a date with their other women on the side, hypocrisy has been bred in. I am not surprised that he felt compel to yell like he was at some Friday night game. So long Joey, you too will be seeing the unemployment lines.
